I forget where it's from, but someone says, "I'm on the 12 step program, the first 11 steps are bullshit and the 12th one is that you quit"
|

2 days is nothing so why are you patting yourself on the back already? Come and tell us this story in 5 years time. I personally quit in 2000 and have been smoke free since then and guess what? I still have a 10 pack in my car, the same ten pack I didnt smoke when I quit smoking in 2000. They're still in the pack and ill never smoke them. As for helping you to stay clean, check this website out: http://whyquit.com |
LOL this thread is an amazing study in whether people read the thread or just skim for whatever they want to find.
Congrats, _Rush_ :) |

But I dont think anyone can really claim to have quit unless theyve got a full 5 yrs or more under their belt smoke free. Course it helps living in a country where people can't smoke in pubs, clubs, restaurants, etc etc |
Good for you

The negative effects of smoking begin to disappear the moment you quit.
At 20 minutes after quitting: * Blood pressure decreases * Pulse rate drops * Body temperature of hands and feet increases. At 8 hours: * Carbon monoxide level in blood drops to normal * Oxygen level in blood increases to normal At 24 hours: * Chance of a heart attack decreases At 48 hours: * nerve endings begin regrowth * ability to smell and taste improves And etc etc etc in that fashion. |

I have been an off and on smoker pack a day for 5 years now. The reason why I smoke is because it cuts off my sexual desires so I can get work done. Also my biggest problem is I have never gone to a club or bar in my life with out smoking. Mentally I think the thing with smoking is your cigs become your best friend that you can depend on when you need it and you fear loosing your best friend forever. Anyway good luck.

The secret to success is actually wanting to quit. If you don't really want to quit, nothing you do will help.

I quit smoking a different way. I had read that smoking has a lot to do with your mind being conditioned to smoking and to quit, you recondition it as a non-smoker. So every day for about 3 months I told myself that I was quitting on New Years Eve, and would never smoke again. This helped reinforce and condition my mind that this was going to happen.
New Years Eve I smoked my last cigarette, put on a patch and went to bed. I woke up in the morning, decided I did not want to use the patch, I was a non-smoker, and would rather go through hell a few days and get it over with. Hell never came, when I got the urge to smoke I would eat a couple of pretzels and I have never smoked again. It was SO EASY. I smoked for probably 20 years, I smoked more than a pack a day, and just telling myself for 3 months I was quitting was enough to convince me I was a non-smoker. |
