I'm almost at the fourth day. No need to smoke at all. This whole "nicotine is addictive" this seems to be complete bullshit, at least in my case. By now I should be crawling the walls or tied down to the bed so that I couldn't smoke, Trainspotting style. However, I'm just leading the same life I had without smoking. It's weird, but it's happening.

It's a shame I thought I was going to suffer more since that's why it took me so long to quit.

xNetworx 02-12-2007 05:04 PM

See if you can last a year and then make this post.

_Rush_ 02-12-2007 05:07 PM

I went out with some friends on Saturday and got pretty drunk. Didn't touch a cigarette. The whole drunk thing was my main threat to my plan. Fortunately, I'm still smoke-free and hope to remain like this for a long time.

gimo33 02-12-2007 05:16 PM

good for you....

_Richard_ 02-12-2007 05:16 PM

wow dude.. good luck with that.

Although, if you've never quit before, and you were going to have trouble getting through one night with 12 cigarettes, i'm betting you're either a freak for not wanting a smoke, or you still have enough nicotine to last you another year.. :1orglaugh

Good luck though

I only ever smoked when i would go out to a club or something. Was stupid though, because i hated the smell from it and always regretted it the next day.

Haven't smoked in months now, and don't ever get cravings for it either.

Keep it up !! :thumbsup

Richard - Triplexcash 02-12-2007 05:46 PM

Congratulations for quitting and good luck. My mother at 61 just went her first month smoke free since she was like 16. She said I was her inspiration since I quit drinking almost 1 year ago ;)

wyldworx 02-12-2007 05:51 PM

best of luck, I too have cut down on smoking alot, and have been feeling much fitter than usual, and have much more energy. I have also been watching the scare campaigns they air on most stations in aus, about the effects and harms of smoking, and they certainly help me think about my next smoke...

notabook 02-12-2007 05:53 PM

Good luck! That's saving 2-2.5k a year right there. Awesome job. :thumbsup

needlive 02-12-2007 06:17 PM

Nice and wise post. Clever to stop while still being healthy...

Anyway, I've smoked only a few cigs in my life...and I won't do it much more

J. Falcon 02-12-2007 06:26 PM

I'm just coming up to 4 months since I quit.

Shit is very hard, I'm on nicotine inhalers...

Second of all, consider buying a shitload of straws to drink from glasses. Once the nicotine has faded, you'll need to break the habit. Sucking from a straw will confuse your brain and up until now it seems to be thinking that it is actually smoking =)

pretty cool :thumbsup
i used a similar method. i lit incense sticks and pretended those were cigarettes.

BVF 02-03-2008 08:30 PM

I haven't smoked for a month........I weened myself off of it for a long time by purchasing 'singles' at the corner store, which I could buy 3 of them for a dollar...That way, I didn't have to worry about having a whole pack around me.

It's nice to have my lungs back...It's nice to be able to ejaculate a nice amount again...

I don't miss cigarettes at all...I was a fool to smoke them for as long as I did...

A buddy of mine just got a script for that stuff. He was worried about the side effects because suicidal thoughts just came out as a potential side effects.

What kind of side effects, if any, did you experience?

gandalfuy 02-27-2008 08:51 PM

good luck! :pimp

lhizy_05 02-28-2008 02:21 PM

KILL_FRENZY 02-28-2008 03:22 PM

interesting :)

Dollarmansteve 02-28-2008 03:36 PM

There's only 1 way to quit: just stop.

Realize that you are a sentient being in control of your actions and the only reason you smoke is because you are a drug addict. Nicotine is an incredibly powerful narcotic and it creates a deep psychological addiction.

Patches, gum, "weening" etc , etc is crap. If you smoke, you are a drug addict.

I quit cold turkey on January 4th 2006. I have never taken a puff of a cigarette since and I never will again because I choose not to.

haxsyn 02-28-2008 03:45 PM

I've been smoke-free ("cold turkey") since the New Year - made it my resolution. Lets see, its been 2 months then already. I was chewing on toothpicks for a while... now I just tell myself "no" when I have a craving (which is rare at this point). As long as I don't think about it, I'm good. Oh, and I also went thru like a box of tic-tacs a day at first - those helped. :)

Blazed 02-28-2008 05:16 PM

Six weeks without smoking here, without doing any drugs and without eating any unhealthy food also. Feels great!

yuu.design 02-28-2008 05:28 PM

nice , stay strong!!!!

Evil E 02-28-2008 05:47 PM

Good job! 1 year is great. I've been mostly smoke free for the year besides when drunk. I don't have any cravings when sober... strange. Probably a mental association or something. Anyways, My goal is to not smoke at all when partying since now.

I've already noticed a lot of improvement with my breathing and gas when running or climbing stairs. It's great. Also I don't stink anymore.

P.S.: If anyone quit, I would suggest them to have a cleaning at their dentist after a month or so. It's a nice reward and you feel great afterwards. You can also whiten your teeth right after the cleaning if you wish.

NosMo 02-28-2008 05:48 PM

Hmm lets see I started smoking when I was 14.....about 2 packs a day, quit cold turkey last easter have not had one since. I don't even crave them. No gum, No patches, No shots. But I do crave the blood of my co-workers but that is another story for another time.

this time I am seriously going to go for it though .. has been 4 days now .. still going strong ! ! wish me luck

_Rush_ 07-13-2008 12:06 AM

A year and a half bitchesssss!!! lol

bloggingseo 07-13-2008 12:10 AM

Hey Rush, 2 days is okay but it doesn't give you a trophy! You have got a LONG way to go. i wouldn't start celebrating until it's been 6 months.

I quit cold turkey after smoking 2 packs a day for 6 years and never looked back, that was 2 and a half years ago. Will power goes a long way
