As I sit here watching The Matrix trilogy for about the 87th time, I know what my vote is, what do you think?

It's a toss up between Star Wars (original trilogy) and Indiana Jones... it's what I grew up on. Matrix started out well, but I think it got a little rushed and soft in the second two. Pretty sure the producers lost their focus when their mf'n movie check rolled in from the first one. I still think the first Matrix was fantastic though (on it's own).
Alien(s) again, a great franchise... but by the third one, it strayed a little bit (then the 4th?? what happened there... one last stab at a buck). First two were outstanding though. |

Star Wars, episodes 4-6. Out of that list Matrix was the worst trilogy with only one good movie (the 1st one).

Star wars, well, it isn't a trilogy anymore now is it? and the rest don't even come close to the godfather. Piss off with your silly notions that they even come close.

Yes, but get this, they almost weren't because of new industry "Safety Standards" in Hollywood, they were not allowed to use a real whip, they were going to have to digitally add the whip after filming. So Harrison Ford said, "No real whip, No Harrison Ford", and luckily they somehow got that rule changed.

Matrix, as a trilogy, was pure shit. Only the first one was good, the sequels were only made to cash in on the first one's success.
The Godfather got my vote. Some other good ones there, but none compare.

Godfather is the most consistent. Star Wars most innovative, but Jedi was a bit gay already...
Matrix 1 was great but as a trilogy it was weak (like the 4 Alien films where 2 out of 4 are great) LOTR was amazing, to bring the book to life on film I thought would be impossible, but Jackson succeeded. Somehow it wasn't as engrossing as Godfather or Star Wars, i think the Hobbits were too annoying in the film.

LOTR I didn't think the last Matrix was all that great. The first was amazing.

The Matrix started strong but started to disappoint the closer it got to the end.
LOTR just got better and better.... Star Wars peaked with The Empire Strikes Back but was pretty solid all the way through. The Godfather fell apart in part 3. Therefore, I'd have to go with LOTR... in your list. However, I'm going to hold judgement until Pirates of the Caribbean part 3 comes out to see how it fairs. |

#1 is Star Wars.
The movie that'd really CHANGED the world and people's way of thinking and lifestyle. #2 the Godfather don't like the 3rd movie though, but as a whole think it's just great. Makes you re-think few things in your life. I consider it's moslty Mario Puzo's contribution #3 The Lord of the Rings Likewise Starwars, The Lord of the Rings 've changes one's world outlook. But it's mostly book, not the movie |

I voted for Stars Wars.
But Superman I, II, and Returns constitutes a trilogy, doesn't it? (even the people who made Returns don't like to acknowledge the existence of two crappy Christopher Reeve movies, so I'd say that's three flicks, one story)

There are a lot of great trilogies. My fav goes to LOTR, followed by Star Wars (the originals, fuck the new ones), Godfather, Rocky, Matrix, Superman, Terminator, Rambo, Saw, Halloween, soon to be Spiderman, Xmen.... and fuck this
