if you want to keep some money in the bank look at the strobes from alien bees. they work great for me..i think they have a website where you can purchase directly and also get accessories such as softboxes and barn doors etc.

i used a veriaety of stobes .. form normans to Speedo's .. however you did ask for entry level .. When I first started to learn stobe/flash lighting I bought a small Opus kit for 500$ included 2 strobes (100W/s) banrn doors, soft box, colored gels and a snoot. Since I was shooting in tight confines 100 w/s did fine .. only problem was the recycle time was a bit slow naturally 3 secs (a personal adjust) ... However in my opinion this was the best way for me to learn on how strobes/flashes work ... a cheap inexpenisve way to learn. I add back lighting with small Opl-m40's (2) and some umberllas
M1002 Kit ![]() OPL-M100 - 100 w/s, 3 second recycle time OPL-M40 - 40 watts per sec @ 3 sec Recycle
