Show me a successful blog that uses affiliate program rss feeds...

I don't see the advantage to this unless it's just a site you're throwing tons of traffic at and not looking for se traffic.

Well it depends on what you deem as successfully, if you look at it based on return on time spent affiliate program feeds can help you tremendously. I can either make one blog and write one post per day on it or I can create 30 blogs with 1600 posts each during that same time. Who do you think will get more SE traffic?

It all comes down to $$$, who cares about bookmarkers or serps if the site doesn't make money...

I think 90% of the people using hosted RSS feeds have no fucking clue what they are doing. whether they are pushing the feeds on sites that aren't within the same niche or are soley using just sponsor feeds instead of mixing their own posts with sponsors posts. Most affiliates aren't using sponsors RSS feeds to their fullest potential.

Not to mention sponsors not taking the time to properly setup their feeds so their affiliates actually make some cash. I mean is it really worth putting up RSS feeds for your affiliates to use if it has one line of text and a picture, the answer is hell no. The affiliate and sponsor are both losing money.

We have quite a few affiliates pushing great numbers through our feeds, but i'm a little hesitant to post links of my own here, plus i would never post any of our affiliates links without permission.

I've said this a few times and had little response which is surprising considering how many people supposedly have large networks of blogs, we offer custom RSS feeds to any of our affiliates that have enough traffic. Reason being that most sponsor hosted feeds have one specific look to them and that doesn't always fit with the look of the affiliates blogs/sites and by giving them the option of using a custom feed we can customize the feed to look whichever way they may want. Whether it's more image content, or more text or less text, different posting schedule and so on... we go above and beyond to make our affiliates sales.

Last fall I managed to find around 35 sponsors (some with multiple sites) who claimed to have feeds for blogs: just 7 validated fully and about twice that number failed validation. Then you start to look at those you might actually want to display on your sites...

And if you imagine things are getting better, you would be wrong. A few sponsors have added feeds in the past few months, but at least a half dozen from my original list have already quit. Earlier this week I tried to find feeds for a babes site and only by including marginally fetish sites was I eventually able to find two with decent text and nice pics which didn't break my layout.

My issue with the idea of "custom" feeds is that all I need is vanilla content, free of styling. Give me that and my CSS will make it match my site. Most of the problems arise with sponsors who impose their own formatting, the effect of which can be anything from creating minor inconsistencies in my layouts to actually breaking them. Shouldn't it be obvious that if your content is going to (hopefully) be hosted on hundreds of different sites, you must leave it to those sites to handle the way it is displayed?

From the sponsor point of view there is a major downside to RSS feeds, which is that there is limited value for anyone in a blog adding more than a handful of new posts each day. So if too many sponsors were to provide feeds and update too frequently, few would see much return. However we aren't close to that point yet, and if someone is providing feeds, why not take an extra step to ensure they are usuable and likely to generate $$$.

we already do this with our feeds no styling is applied so whatever CSS styles you have set on your posts will be carried over into the posts pulled from our feeds. but you are right i've noticed a lot of sponsors who's feeds are invalid or they leave styling applied to the posts so that the css of the affiliates site doesn't get picked up and may jumble the way the post looks. the idea of a custom feed is to basically suite the format of the blog, say the affiliate's blog has a different type of structure to it's posts and they want a more uniform look to their site, a custom feed using their post template would be implemented giving them content updated when they want in the format they want and so on....

Nookster's Asians has been running successfully for over a year with hundreds of sales. I have quite a few sponsor feeds but also post my own blogs. The OC Cash feeds (Orgyental) in the blog aren't updated that often but are good enough to pull in sales. So far from using various sponsor feeds, OC Cash's feeds are the only ones that convert for me and are updated the most frequently.

the work done in rss feeds reminds me the shitty pic-of-the-day scripts many sponsors used to have.

I agree.

I set up our feeds. To be honest, I think they are the best around. If you are looking for one line / one pic / update 3 times a day, this isn't them.

If you are looking to give your surfers a quality experience, something entertaining to read, and a logical system that links to specific dvd titles, sites, etc, I think ours are the best.

http://adultpornblog.com/

If anyone wants to pull them, hit me up. They are not in Weg as of yet. But you can link with your id.....invite only right now.

Funny though, everyone complains about the crappy feed situation, but lets see how many people complain that we don't update 3 times a day or write short spam lines : )

As far as making money with feeds, you can easily do it if you do some research.

And all the blogs posted as examples demonstrate the problem I have with taking sponsor feeds for a blog.
