I tried to get Mary Beth Buchanan for the Vegas show, but we weren't able to pull it off.

Having the SAIC in charge of 2257 inspections coming to lay out the real dope in Hollywood, though, is such a big step in the right direction and I hope that lots of you will be able to take advantage of this great opportunity!

If this does'nt lead to a seminar packed to overflowing, then a lot of webmasters need to examine their business strategies. There is a question and answer period I presume?

Good stuff

Yes I'd also like to know if this will be recorded, as I'm sure a great many webmasters and producers will not be able to attend in person.

Congrats to XBiz, that surely is a coup. Definitely get the seminar recorded (and done well) as I am certain this is a must-see event that unfortunately far too many webmasters will be unable to attend.

Excellent job XBiz crew...this is something that's been sorely missing from a lot of these types of seminars. Before they *seemed* to be more full of attorneys trying to scare everyone into hiring them. It'll be refreshing to hear from the other side so to speak. Hopefully this will help the FBI that most of us are serious about business and really do want to work within the limits of the law.

On another note, I almost fear any "innocent" conversations he may hear over a drink or two at a webmaster party ;-)

Cant wait to hear what he has to say. should be very informative and a great oppertunity to clear up any misunderstandings of the laws and what they are specifically looking for.

Damn... so Chuck Joyner's career is gonna be short when the DOJ find out he's playing the lecture circuit with nasty pornographers

What a pleasure it is to be free....

It is a nice coup, but keep it quiet. Often FBI people promise to make those types of appearances, but at the last minute their bosses get cold feet and tell them to send a huge "no comment". They are not usually very public about how they do business.

We are very thrilled to be offering the community and industry the opportunity to hear this from "the horse's mouth..." so to speak -- make sure to come with legitimate questions as they are READY and WILLING to answer -- lets all work together and STREAMING the seminar isnt a bad idea ... we'll look into it!

Think we agree on that Alex

Can vouch for exactly that being on the table - the lecture circuit as fine, but may get contentious depending who the lecture is addressed to. Annual conventions of drugs cartels and pornographers can get.... "sensitive".

But.. chances are all with go with a bang - of some kind

Always be careful of what's around the corner...
It certainly will be interesting to listen to, because 2257 inspections must be a real drain on FBI resources.

Bewae of a 2257 central registration database in the works, where models have to register before going on camera...

KUDOS and CONCERNS.....

Kudos to the entire xBiz crew for putting this together. There is no doubt in my mind that an open flow of communications will result in more knowledge and, as everyone knows, knowledge equals power.

Those of you that were not around in the early days will remember when this entire industry was scared to death of the credit card companies. We all wanted to "fly under their radar". This level of thinking is what AMEX used to pull out of the space altogether and why Master Card was very quickly following in their footsteps. It took a couple of very smart guys (namely Ron Cadwell and Chris Mallick) to look Visa square in the eyes and say "We want to be good customers and solid citizens...how do we do it?". From that point, we learned how to play in their sand box and make money together.

Again....this is FANTASTIC news for our entire industry.....as long as.......

Here comes my concerns....

In an open forum I am going to be very afraid that some of the "less professional" individuals from our industry will be the ones in the Q&A sessions with the loudest voices. I, for one, do not want them speaking for or on behalf of me or my company. Because it will be an open forum, I think we all owe it to each other to make sure that if we see that beginning to happen that we speak up and try to keep the panel a professional one on both sides of the equation. Let's make sure that the voices that are heard are ones with long term industry gains in mind and not short term, personal gains as the agenda.

Just my $.02

If CuriousToyBoy doesn't do a run through in a thong I'd consider that a wasted photo op.

Seriously though, if he's upfront and honest a lot could come of something like this. Perhaps he'll even see that we're an industry willing to work WITH the DOJ and it's the illegal porn producers they need to start focusing on instead of the legitimate ones.

Little doubts the guy will be "upfront and honest" - he has no reason to be otherwise. Rest assured, very little will come out of it - an FBI agent has little to offer other than expound on the law and enforce it. It's not a cosy chat were everyone is an open book

The idea of the DOJ and FBI "working" with the adult industry is even more remote - they don't exist to work with anyone - their job is to uphold the law.

But sure, government agents are not stupid (unless a few are totally dumb) - they already know a lot more about the adult industry, motivations, patterns blah than any newbie on GFY.

Not to de-rail the thread...so here's my $.02 - I'm glad they agreed to do it, but I seriously doubt they'll follow through. I think this will get up the ladder a bit and get shot down in an election year.
