Is INTERNEXT (Las Vegas) dead???

So, the Internext convention was not the biggest ever and $300 to see 40 companies isnīt what a nice convention is.

The AVN was awesome with much people, great parties and nice companies but what was Internext?

I think this was my last year at Internext. How about you?

Discuss

Its been dead. Thats why I didn't go this year or last. There are much better shows now that bring you more business, knowledge and fun.

Example : XBIZ and Phoenix Forum. I do want to hit one of these Snow Gatherings. I hear good things about them.

I'm going to disagree. I love the XBiz show and I think the Phoenix Forum is the BEST show out there. But I have to ask, if you didn't get any business, were you trying. I got a lot done!

The one area internext is missing out on is affiliates, but B2B was very good. The reason they don't get as many affiliates is that it has become sooo expensive! My 2 cents.

You push dialers. No one in their right mind would listen to a word you said.

I guess it's a good thing I didn't go this year. But anyways I'm just way too far. But from what I've seen on another board, looks like some people had a blast.

I had my problems with the AEE show, but finally got business done there, I THOUGHT there was going to be a problem with the InterNext show cuz they wouldn't give out the badges the day before, which turned out to be a non-issue since so few people attended, the lines were nonexistant the day of the show to pick up our passes.

With that said, sure, I got some business done, but could I have gotten the exact same thing accomplished by sending an email, or picking up the phone, and saving $300? Yup, sure could have.

InterNext Vegas has been going down hill since 2003, I can't speak for the Florida show, as I saw no need to go to that one, and I certainly won't be attending any future InterNext shows, it's either XBiz or Phoenix Forum from now on for us.

95% of our business isnt dialers. We work with a lot of other stuff but at GFY I will always be the dialer guy, no matter what I say.

A convention is dead when nobody like to pay for the entrance.
Many conventions in Europe died at the same way. People prefer to go to the bar and talk business instead of paying alot of cash to get nothing.

So the question is. Is it still alive even if there is no convention, just a couple of drunk webmasters sitting in the bar?

My only issues with the show was lack of transportation provided for the events away from the hotel. Not a huge deal, I guess Im just used most of the other shows having limos and shuttles running. I think only one event had a shuttle service that I went to and that was the topbucks dinner. There could of been a lot better information available for what was going on during the week. Overall it was a great show, and for me I got a TON of business done this show. For that aspect it was my best show yet as far as getting deals setup and making money instead of just having fun. Show still gets a thumbs up, but room for improvement for sure.

I respect Chris and the rest of the AVN people...but what they have done is price out affiliates by doubling the badge price so only sponsors can basically attend...plus the room rates are astronomical..I need affiliates and newbies more than other sponsors to trade traffic..$300 is too much for newbies and the average Joe

$300 is not too much, I would pay that for the show in 2005, and in 2004, but this year's show was SHIT!!!!

exactly, $300 ain't shit, but you have to give people something for that $300

imagine if internext was like this

wouldn't that be amazing?

$300 is OK but if you pay $300 you have to get something back. This year you didnt get anything for paying and that is how you kill a convention.

Then I can agree that going to Las Vegas isnt cheap but that has nothing to do with Internext.

All the networking and deals I made at internext were not on the floor but at dinners, suites, the bar and even next to the dollar machines lol. I got a badge and entered the show floor once ( for 5 min ) just to meet a friend and leave for lunch. IMO you don't need a badge at all and I waisted 1200 bones on badges for me and my crew for nothing. This has happend to me 2 years in a row and I'm not falling for it again.

It was my first time there, and it was helpful for me as I'm a complete rookie in the industry trying to meet as many people as I can.

I do have to agree that the convention wasn't as big as I expected, but it was still nice. Outside the convention is where most of the deals were made as many have said. I'm not sure how/if I'll handle the next Vegas InterNext show, time will tell.

I'm really looking forward to the Xbiz and Phoenix. Hopefully I'll get to meet more of you there.

More sponsores > More visitors > More people > More party > More Internext

Maybe you should give away places for sponsors very low just to save the convention and give every sponsor 50 tickets each. Thats dont cost a shit and will bring people back to Internext. There is a milion things to do...

Flight, hotel, food and extras all mount up.

The talk has been for years that Internext is not coming up with the goods, this year was not a surprise to anyone was it?

Excluding the people who organised it.

We had a very successful show and there were a lot of great people there. The show floor was a bit smaller but that doesn't mean a ton of business wasn't getting done. I do, however, agree, that affiliates are being stonewalled in a way because of prices etc, the entire nature of the AVN shows is to schmooze the big guys and it kind of casts the little guys aside.. but as far as that is concerned, it's hardly the only show that has this atmosphere. I adore the people at AVN, and I know that they will do their very best to try to evolve with the times and do what is needed with their shows to keep them productive

It was a smaller show, but I must say it was really productive for me. I'd be happy if I got one quarter of the business done as I did on this trip. It was great to see all the familiar faces from the old days in attendance. I guess it just depends on what you are trying to accomplish, Vegas can be pretty distracting

I had *alot* of great conversations and business deals going on at the show.
I was suprised how a show I didnt even visit the show floor for could produce so much business. I think being small gave it some charm and a more personalized environment to talk and network in.

Craig T was one of those great conversations! We had fun with you guys my man.

Maybe I should charge $200 per person and throw 3 nights of Players Balls mixed with relaxed networking areas in the afternoon. I'll bring artists like Snoop and Cube.

Put the money in my pocket!

Don't get me wrong in my post - I will always attend as long as they have it - Just will never shell out for badges again. There was no reason to hit the floor at all. Not even to play poker cuz it was in a different room. For the n00bs the seminars may have been good but I never go to those - I fall asleep and JFK has pics to prove it from one of the Cybernet shows

That $300 worked out to $10 a minute. Needless to say I felt pretty ripped off, as did everyone else I talked to.

We had a great show. We got tons of business done and saw a bunch o f good friends. We will always attend Internext.

I agree, if they lowered the registraation cost, there would be many more affiliates who would attend.

I got stuff done but none of it was on the show floor. That was just to meet up with some of the reps to say hello. I should have realized the show floor was gonna be bad news when I walked on the show floor and half the booths wernt even built yet Monday morning. So I desided to come back for the brunch.. nothing like having to pay $5 bucks to get a can of soda to go with my "free food".

After walking around I think if I was a program I would have gotten more biz done rolling a keg into the show and sitting a lunch table giving away free beers, instead of the $7 ones, and talking to those people, instead of having a booth. Hell I could have prob done that in the hallway.

However being an affiliate it wasnt worth it as in the end I would have had 4 affiliate reps from the same company hitting me up to promote there program, and no one I really need to work with... aka other afiliates. It just seems to becoming a b2b thing other then any other else.

However I wont knock the new system completely. It is a good start to fix the cluster fuck of last year, but its not quite there yet. I realize there is nothing that can be done in Vegas to get us all in the same place as it is in Hollywood, but you need to get more like the pool area in Hollywood.. just booths around the outside of the room, a bar in the middle and tables. While it might be a bit more expensive for floor space, im sure the $300 a person to get in and the something like $10K a booth will cover you. Im guessing you made at least a buck a drink this year too.

My thoughts are to just mimic the pool in FL, but also make the prices more accessable to nubie webmasters, or just webmasters in general. Once you get them back you will get the sponsors back

I got more contacts, netwroking and biz done in suites, by the card tables , bars and so on,,,

I went on the show floor for 10 minutes ... wasnt impressed.

Only reason i leaned into going was to go to Vegas again and gamble.

If it was in a different city i would not have went. Last year was terrible.. this year even worse. But i still got biz done , i always getit done one way or another tbh.

I should've saved the $300 and just did my business in the hallway. But I will say that this year was much, much better than last year and that overall, it was worth the $$ to make the trip.

AVN's trying, that's what matters.

it might of been a smaller show and with less attendance . but so far the best Internext show for me in the way of new contacts and new bussiness ...
An improvement on last year .. but still aways to go.

Stick with the new floor plan I found it worked better.

I wouldnèt be lying if I said I never want to return to Vegas again . but thats what 2 weeks of Gamblin, sex and drugs will do to you.

I can do business at any show, because that's what I do while I'm there, and there are always people to do business with, in varying numbers... but it could have been better.
