If you say so. I posted that after reading only the first comment, though, and haven't read many of the rest. It isn't something that particularly interests me, it's just amusing sometimes to think about what goes through people's heads when they spout off.

What you you mean of "fucking stupid opinions and jealousy"?

1) First of all regarding my own "fucking stupid opinions". I'm working in the adult business, so it's logical reason that I don't want to do the same business in the country with all those new anti-porn laws (thanks to Mr. Bush and his lovely God) and anti-porn hysteria what was started in the USA during a past few years (you know, I'm reading the XBiz news daily :winkwink: ) Now a few words about the taxes. Here where I live now, I pay only 6% (you may believe it or not, but it's true) of all my income from the online business and 94% goes directly into my pocket. So how much is the tax fee I supposed to pay in the USA? All my income is coming from the Net, so I'm not binded to ANY country - my gross revenue will be a same in any place in the World where I have an Internet cable.

2) As about "jealousy". Could you please show me at least a couple of advantages I could have if I'd live in the USA? The only good point I can see so far, it that life in the USA a bit cheaper in comparison with the place I'm living now. But if I'd decide to find a place with a most cheapest live, I'll move to some other place for sure. So is there anything else I have to be jealous about?

kowalsky 01-19-2007 10:51 AM

No way! Really, I wouldn´t like to see my children growing up into that culture.

I can't stand the hypocrites.. hate and bash the US out loud but conveniently turn the other cheek as soon as a US dollar comes your way... chances are that US dollar spent on your websites was taxed at least 30% to support the activities of the government you hate, right?

For those that just realized this... I'll try to find a script for you that will redirect all of your US traffic to a non-profit organization somewhere.

And what is so crazy about the legal system here? There are laws everywhere much crazier than ours... shit, the US doesn't cut your hands off if you steal and you can't pay off every cop on the streets like some places...

So unless you're doing something you shouldn't be the laws aren't that "crazy" otherwise everyone would be in jail, right?

And as for the gambling comment, I can gamble at the gas station right now if I wanted to :P

Ahh.. i don't undestand where you're going with this. The thread is about who wants to live in the states. So how can people not talk about the states in honest opinions?

The laws in the states are nuts. You have a vice-presidental aide on trial for leaking the name of a cia agent, but the trail is a sham because everyone, internationally, knows your president is going to pardon him asan.

Nice.

Americans like to bash America out loud so much that I think people who haven't been here have a rather skewed view of things. I agree that it's likely headed the way of most "empires" eventually but I also think that any government by nature is going to have inherent corruptions. The level to which those corruptions effect you depend on where you cross paths with said government and how long that government has been around, deteriorating and approaching it's next revolt/restructure.

Since I haven't seen any really, yet, I don't have any examples to point to. I'll be the first to admit that I misjudged the direction this thread would go!

Sorry, I didn't read the rest of your post, I'm afraid.

If I wasn't moving to the lake permanently in March, I'd probably want to be in Vancouver, most likely. You live in a BEAUTIFUL area, and I love it there. :thumbsup

wow wow wow eeeeeasy, did you take the pill today? Please mark where anyone (and I mean ANYONE) posted some bashing or hatred in this thread. Now, inspire, expire, take the pill (or two) and say to yourself: "there's a chance I might not know what things are outside my bubble and people might differ with me", "there's a chance I might not know what things are outside my bubble and people might differ with me", "there's a chance I might not know what things are outside my bubble and people might differ with me". Make it a mantra and you'll see how things starts to fall in place.

Namaste :winkwink:

Like I said, I admitted I wasn't right about what direction the thread would go. If you want to selectively quote to twist it, that's your business, I guess.

Seems I got it wrong also. I thought you meant that you haven't seen any opinions at the time when you answered to my post but not when you posted your first comment into this thread. I apologize.

Yeah, I meant that I was *predicting* it'd be a lame thread full of U.S.-bashing just for the sake of it. It didn't seem to turn out that way, so I was apologizing for assuming it. :)

It's just funny sometimes how it's perfectly acceptable for people to shit all over the country most of us make the majority of our income selling to, but it's NOT okay when people defend it. It's group-think at its worst, and it just makes me shrug and move on.

Oh, wait, *NOW* I see what you were saying.

No, I was saying that I didn't *see* any stupid replies yet, having read through the thread. I was applauding the overall maturity of the discussion.

edgeprod, BTW what's the current tax rate in the States?

Dunno, whatever it is, it's never bothered me. I pay my taxes because I like the quality of life I enjoy. I have no stress, can afford great healthcare, now that I'm moving to the lake, I won't even have to deal with idiots anymore, because I won't see to many people, period. :) I'd assume it's somewhere between 40% and 50% of my income, after self-employment taxes, etc.

For the $2,500/year my account charges, all of my taxes are prepared, paid out of my account for me, and I'm worry-free. I just sign it and authorize the payment.

Canada is among the places I would like to move (in some far future). I had a possibility to relocate to the States when I was working as a coder for some US-based software development company, but I decided to stay in my country. Now working in the adult business I strongly believe it was a damn good idea to stay here :winkwink:

Yeah, I was in Montreal for a few trade shows. One was Linux Business Expo 2000 -- we sponsored it.

What I remember of the East Coast was the cold, whereas Vancouver has that nice wind that heats it up to a reasonable temperature. If I had to choose between the two, it'd be Vancouver.

From March on, I'll be living full time at the lake house, and it's beautiful over there, so I'll stay right here for now, haha. 35 miles wide, 350 miles of coastline, some awesome boating and general relaxation. I finally said "fuck it," and started packing up this place to leave it for good.
