Apparently, some scum fuck broke into her house last night. She's got three boys with hemophilia, so they couldn't do anything but hide. Her husband was at work. She gave them the $ she had and her TV. When she was fighting them off her kid's Christmas toys, they whacked her over the head with a club. She's been over 12 hours with that gash on her head and there was no way to get a picture of just how big and deep that thing really is. She had no $$ to get to the hospital and was afraid I'd fire her if she didn't come to work.

I just sent her off to the hospital with some cash to get it stitched up. I'm figuring it'll be at least 15 or 20 stitches to close it back up.

This is such an amazingly safe country if you don't live in the ghettos. It's actually the safest country in central and south america. That kind of thing is not something that would ever occur to me as a possibility in this area of town. But for the grace of God, there go I...ya know?

Hey man ... I'm glad she's ok .... but wtf... a maid? Go wash your own stinking underpants and make your own breakfast you lazy ass! LOL! ;)

First off, id like to say, you are a good man who helped this woman.

How expensive is living over there for you? A month? Maid, apartment, food etc etc etc?

Honestly, by Panamanian standards, I'm over-paying her. The average for a 5 day a week maid is $135 to $150 /month. But I have her do snacks, smoothies and make lunch too, so $180 /month and the change from her errands to the stores, etc. works well.

Believe it or not, she went to the hospital yesterday and it had been so long since they knocked her head open that the hospital wouldn't stitch or even staple the wound closed. They said that the chance of infection was too high and that all the skin around the wound was dead, so they'd have to cut it away and do a large stitching operation to close it, which would get into the thousands of dollars, even by Panamanian prices.

So she's walking around with anti-bacterical cream on that gash. But otherwise, it's open and covered only by her hair. I'm going to have my doctor come take a look at it. Maybe we can get it taken care of. But if we can't, she's just going to have to heal as best she can and deal with all the hair falling out of the scar on the crown of her head and have a big white spot there for the rest of her life.
