FBI is in Every Recent Cell Phone

What cellphone manufacturers are reluctant to include in-among all the blurb about Bluetooth and high-speed data connectivity is that apparently every recent phone sold in the US has a built-in tracking device that, once activated remotely, can be set to keep the microphone powered on even when the phone itself is switched off.

Vic Walter and Krista Kjellman of ABC News Report: A recent court ruling in a case against the Genovese crime family revealed that the FBI has the ability from a remote location to activate a cell phone and turn its microphone into a listening device that transmits to an FBI listening post, a method known as a "roving bug." Experts say the only way to defeat it is to remove the cell phone battery.

"The FBI can access cell phones and modify them remotely without ever having to physically handle them," James Atkinson, a counterintelligence security consultant, told ABC News. "Any recently manufactured cell phone has a built-in tracking device, which can allow eavesdroppers to pinpoint someone's location to within just a few feet," he added.

According to the recent court ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan, "The device functioned whether the phone was powered on or off, intercepting conversations within its range wherever it happened to be."

It was indeed a wire tapping investigation that brought down an alleged gambling empire run by James Giordano

Giordano was overheard warning others to use disposable cell phones and expressed concerns about "inept" associates.

The FBI maintains the methods used in its investigation of the Genovese family are within the law. "The FBI does not discuss sensitive surveillance techniques other than to emphasize that any electronic surveillance is done pursuant to a court order and ongoing judicial scrutiny," Agent Jim Margolin told ABC News.

Your thread title is misleading
Here are the fact about cellphones, the FBI is simply exploiting certain capabilities in all modern phones, theres more too someone can hack your phone number and use it to make calls so dont act like the FBI is purposely requiring companies to put bugs built into phones lol.

this was posted earlier this month.. the article is vague and misleading..

Yes it "could" happen in some fashion..

NO they (fbi) cant just call headquarters enter a phone number of a cell phone and secretly listen through its mic nor track it.

On a case by case basis it could be possible to do both but not so simple right now..

they have had this shit forever, 6 years ago i was walking down a street talking on my phone and apparently at the same time, someone threw a firebomb through someones window, within 2 days the police show up my door asking me questions and then asking me if I saw anything. They told me they tracked me through my cellphone..

They would have figured that out from logs of which phones were connected to nearby towers at the time. Nothing to do with remotely activating a microphone.....

i realize that, i just was reffering to it being used as a location tool, not a listening tool.

The FBI would die of boredom listening to my cell phone calls "hon, stop at the store on the way home and buy bread" "hey hon, mom will be there to pick you up in 10 minutes"
