Is there a way to get a high speed connection real fast?

I'm moving into a new place this saturday and today AT&T tells me they dont offer cable modem service in my place. They told me they did a week ago but now they say they dont.

So saturday I wont be able to connect to the net.

Anyway I can get a high speed connection before saturday? DSL will be at least 2 weeks

Find out what cable company can provide you connectivity, if any. AT&T doesn't do all of USA

Search the net, there are some sites that will let you know what's available at your address.

The key is to find out who in your neigborhood has access, break in, and install a wireless network. Bingo you have broadband access. If you got a few $$'s to throw at it, you could hook up 3 or 4 houses. That way when one finds out, you just switch over to the next one

Fuck splitting it, I'm talking about illegal internet access, like cable theft, but only better

Just think about it, depending on if each neighbor has a different carrier, you could have 3 or 4 diff IP's to use in posting galleries each day, think about the possibilities. This could be a good idea for those of us that already have access, get new IP's by hacking your neighbors network, then when the government comes a knocking your safe as can be

DWL-5000AP 5GHz Wireless Access Point around $250
AirPro DWL-A520 Wireless PCI Adapter $150

and your ready for access, to get all the way from your neighbors house you may have to rig the antenna outside somehow

If ATT said they did but now say they don't then they may still offer it. Do this: Buy a cable modem, hook it up and see if it syncs. If it does, you got cable internet (of course you gotta register your MAC address or they'll shut you down) and it if doesn't sync, then cable is not ready in your area and you return the modem.

The websites and customer support (the cable company I use calls their customer support people "Customer Relations Coordinators" -- gotta love euphamisms) don't know jack.

I have a cable modem in my machine now so I'll give that a shot.
Good idea.

Rather stick with the standard network than wireless. A lot cheaper. It'd be nice to have internet access on my laptop though in front of the TV.
