AFFILIATES: What do YOU want in an Affiliate Program? Help me Spruce mine up!

Ok, I'm looking to change my affiliate program to make it more desirable to affiliates... here is some information on my site....

Live Webcam Site
Free Registration (no credit card required)
E-Wallet Payment system (Pre Purchase $20, $40, $60, $80 or $100)
20% of purchase is processing fees etc
40% is payout to the chathosts
40% is left over that goes to the company

My current Affiliate program is as follows...

25% revshare for their sent traffic's first E-Wallet purcahse
10% revshare for any other purchase they ever make

I would like to change the program to make it more attractive to affiliates, however it makes it difficult when 60% of any purchases made is gone right away... for example, you send a member who makes a $100 purchase... $20 goes to processing, $40 to the chathost he spends it on and then with only $40 left we Payout to the affiliate $25... leaving only $15 for the company of a $100 purchase... that sucks lol.

Knowing this information, what would you as an affiliate like to see that would make you want to use our program ie: 40% initial + 20% recurring etc etc

Serious replies only please as Im trying to re-shape my program

If you do a logical examination of most programs and the affiliates payouts you see a big hole.

No program can afford to pay out 50% plus to affiliates before they pay any other bills. Then there is the cost of supporting and finding affiliates, which is huge. All this before you have spent a penny on the product. Billing, content, hosting, programs, office and staff costs, then shows and promotions.

I forgot they pay for it by upsells and their own traffic. Yes the 1-1000 surfer to join the site suddenly becomes a cash cow to be milked and they send enormous amounts of their own traffic to pay for yours.

Go figure yourself how it works.

That should get this thread moving.

Good info thanks Paul So I'll bump up my program to be 50% of the first billing... now what about recurring? What would you (anybody) like to see on that program for a recurring percentage?

Another thing im wondering is how to go about finding good affiliates... i mean the best are going for programs that have been up and running with a stable track record and good rep etc... but for new programs out there, how can one go about finding affiliates at all? Obviously a good program (which is the point of this thread lol) is an attraction... a good selection of high quality promotional tools of all sorts will be a big part of it... but where do we find these guys? Is getting a banner ad on rotation on sites like GFY and Cozy a great investment, or a total waste etc?

Any help would be great, thanks!

Personally, I'd rather see a flat lifetime revshare model if it works for you. 20% for first, second, last .. whatever, and it seems to be about the norm for lifetime revshare programs.

Hmmmm maybe a flat lifetime revshare would be better, the idea of 20% for all purchases is kind of appealing... although as I mentioned, 40% of a purchase is all we make after chathost payout and processing fees, which means we make $20 for every $100 that goes through that affiliates sent traffic, but maybe it would be okay.

I have considered the idea of payper signup, but with a free no credit card needed membership system, we could be paying affiliates for people who dont even have credit cards to join.
