Awesome present for XMAS - Micro-Helicopter
I just got mine... These things are cool for indoor use.
My dog has developed a love hate relationship. I am giving the other two away as presents to two of my employees and ordering more to give to the teen males in my family. Control is a lot like using a first person shooter game and going around a corner while keeping the gun sights on the opponent. Micro Copter It could use a longer battery life but what do you expect from a helicopter no bigger than your fist? |

Tips on usage... (The directions they give are in all your directions is belong to us type of English)
First flight... Just get used to hovering. To take off you need to go maximum power ASAP. Then after it leaps, bring it down to 2/3rds... If you don't do maximum throttle it will quickly create a vortex around the propellers and kick sideways.. (no biggy if it does.. It is foam and plastic so it isn't going to break). Second Flight, Use the trim buttons to level it out... In other words, calibrate the turning controls... Once it is going straight you can begin to turn using the lever. Third Flight, trying to go forward and backwards... First off, if the copter is already going forwards or backwards on its own, grab the back fin and twist it. Twist it so that the propeller in the back either points more upwards or downwards based on what direction you need to correct. So you are twisting the back stick so that the little propeller points slightly upward or downwards and no level up and down... Point it downward to cause the chopper to go forward and twist it to face the ceiling to make it go backwards. Fourth, You get the chopper to move forward (while in a hover) by slightly using the turn right lever and increasing power. Likewise, reverse is slightly to the left while decreasing power. Kind of the same thing as the first person shooter controls I mentioned earlier. Once you get the hang of it (you should be the 4th flight) it is pretty easy to chase people around the office and land on your desk, etc... The blades are made out of light plastic... So they bend instead of break... You can hit your LCD monitor with the blades and they'd bend around the monitor, not cut through it... But that is why you wait until your 8th flight to land anywhere near your LCD monitor. I am thinking of ways to create a super chopper... put two in tandem... or strip this one of the foam to make it lighter and last longer between charges... It will fly nonstop for about 5 minutes and charge back up in about 5 to 10 minutes. |

This looks awesome for the office! I must order a few
Kinda sucks it's only a 5 minute flight though. At least the charge time is not so long

I plan on eventually buying a full 1/4 scale 8 channel chopper eventually so this one was referred to me by a buddy who owns a kick ass helicopter.
Basically he said I should get the hang of not crashing with something like this first. Then move up to a slightly better one (but still under $100) and then go for something with all of the bells and whistles after that. He went straight for the bells and whistles and spent an initial $1200 and then another $400, TWICE after that do to crashing it in a big way. He felt that one of the crashes would never have happened if he played with a toy to get hovering down first and the first crash would have been minor had he had some skills landing. |

Bump for this year...
Just noticed this thread in my bookmarks. I have to buy some of these for my nephews... They got them last year and destroyed them since... Perhaps this year they will respect them more? |

Yeah they are pretty cool have you seen the new ones on ebay with friggin lasers ????
You get two little piccoz helicopters and you can fire a laser beam that "shoots" down the other helicopter (well cuts its power for a sec) pretty cool huh ?

I've been looking at getting one of these since I saw the infomercial a while back. They have them at Target too, great restraint has been shown everytime I walk past them. Damn you Christmas!
