And how much any prosecutors are intent in making a mark.

Doubt linking to an "obscene" website would carry much weight - other than possible conspiracy. The publisher of alleged obscene material in that instance would be the sponsor.

You got a point, tho was trying to say the truth is kinda different in the main.

If you look at the source of illegal sites - these (at least mainly) are in industrialized countries where there is a monetory benefit from marketing. Sure, the same individuals in these industrialized countries may go to other jurisdictions to shoot material, even tho it is illegal, but the instigators are normally from computer savy regions.

On child abuse - here's some stats for 2006:

50% of child abuse content traced to US
15% child abuse content traced to Russia
12% child abuse content traced to Japan
9% child abuse content traced to Spain

The flipside is there are other countries not listed as major, who still have websites operational for up to five years after having been reported to international law agencies.

Of the nations where these offenses are occurring in the main, the stats are increasing annually - so much for law enforcement efforts. These "incidents" also include a degree of filesharing on free hosts etc and not only instances for commercial gain - ie paysites.

Bottom line - underneath this stuff is more than just "CP imaging" - it's about offenses against children. Generally, with odd exception, these offenses are generally on the increase, even if no CP is involved. This has reached a level in some popular "third world countries" where they now warn incoming airline passengers that they will be thrown in jail for 16 years if caught messing with kids - and a fair number of people from industrialized countries are spending time in jail on foreign soil, or being escorted via US Marshal LearJet back to the US to stand trial. "Sex destination" tourism is fine for consenting adults - but kids and animal stuff is definately out.
