You can always publish it on the internet. I would buy it right now, and so would many.
Tell us the real reasons you haven't published it? Did Kremen legally tie your hands?
No more bullshit. What's the true story? And how could they release Cohen. He is a bad risk. He will jump bail. Who is he paying to get him out? This entire story is very fishy.:(

The book is good, but I didn't finish it until this September. You try writing 390 pages, then rewriting the last ninety pages down to thirty to please your agent, who thinks pornographers aren't a good subject. I could publish it on the Net, and if I do, perhaps I'll publish it with a choice of endings.
No, Gary did not legally tie my hands, and I do explain a whole lot of what happened between us, though the larger part of the book is about going after Cohen.
Nevertheless, I think you are quite fairly chastising me for being a tease, and believe me, I am dying keeping it under wraps every damn day. Now that it really is written, it's very tempting to just pump a PDF into Google base. But then I imagine what it will be like walking into Barnes & Noble and Borders and the airport, and seeing my book there, and I keep biding my time.
As to who's paying Cohen's legal fees, I don't think anyone. I don't think any of the lawyers listed on the last page of the service list (god are those lawyers going to get some spam!) are Cohen's. It stopped being much of a good gig when Judge Ware made Bob Dorband work without pay after he froze Cohen's assets. That's the problem -- with assets frozen, Cohen can't get official representation. First question: how do you get paid?
What's really going on is simply that even though we are now comfortable with the President keeping people in solitary for four years without criminal charges pending, your run-of-the-mill Federal judges appointed by the President and confirmed by Congress have limited powers. Even in a case of criminal contempt, like that of Susan McDougal, who was held in contempt by Ken Starr for 18 months for refusing to testify against Clinton before the Whitewater Grand Jury, the court has to be careful. McDougal was acquitted of all the contempt charges, BTW, when jurors apparently concluded Starr didn't need her testimony at all, and it was just a witch hunt.
The whole idea of locking people up until they talk or cough up cash is rather novel. Gary got the idea from the FTC v. Anderson case, where the government told some fraudsters to repatriate their wrongful gains, or be arrested when they came back to the US. Then, Cohen was bold or foolish enough to defy one court order after another, and Judge Ware decided to try Gary's suggestion. But like I told the Red Herring reporter this afternoon, Gary wasn't paying Cohen's room and board in Federal detention -- the taxpayers were.
Gary will never get a red centavo out of Cohen, which is one of the reasons I broke with Gary after we won Sex.Com. I was totally uninterested in pursuing a Great White Whale.
And if you really want to read the book, register at charlescarreon.com, give me your full legal name, and I'll give you PDF copy after you sign a non-disclosure agreement. Seriously.
Chas :)
