I use AVG, Nortons bogs down your machine like crazy, it is a HUGE memory hog

McAfee was all right, but it let a virus through a few months ago that totally fucked my machine

I use AVG now, it hasn't failed yet

I would strongly suggest ZoneAlarm Security Suite or Trend Micro.

Niether of em. They both slow down the computer so fucking much. Grab a free copy of AVG and then just do scans regulary with Adaware, Spybot, and Ewido.

AVG will be discontinued in January I believe. I remember seeing that message when I rebooted not long ago. Or is that just another upgrade of the free program? I didn't pay much attention, I got a free upgrade to ZA Security Suite when I renewed my ZAPro last month. If AVG is still free, it's a pretty good free tool, better than both Norton and McAfee IMO.

Another vote for Kaspersky. I sell about 50 A/V & Antispyware installations per month at my day job. I recommend Kaspersky only. The user interface is a little quirky at first but it has a small footprint and finds stuff in .zip files in and ISO image. No one else can pull that off.

I cant use AVG because it scans my emails everytime I check them.
Even when I turn it off, even when I uninstall the email scan plugin, it still scans my emails everytime I download them.
And it crashes when it scans them, every single time.
So I have to totally shut down avg when I check my email, then restart it.
I wont do it anymore.

I would recommend Nod 32 -> http://www.eset.com/products/windows.php

I know a lot of professionals that use it.

They are just asking you to upgrade to the new version which is still free.

that is weird, I haven't had any trouble when using AVG. Sure the scanning every email sucks in our biz, but everytime I have disabled it on a computer it has worked fine.

Are you guys sure about kaspersky?

Just installed it and my system is super slow now. it took 20-30 seconds just to launch this browser.
I rebooted twice.

Yeah, it acts like it's mad because you don't want it anymore and tries to drag the removal out so maybe you give up and leave it installed.
