At least you didn't have to call Microsoft to re-activate your copy of Windows. I've heard of people changing something as simple as RAM and suddenly their Windows didn't work til they called in. LAME.

I don't know your setup, so I can't say. If your user settings are on another hard drive, or if you have another copy of XP on another drive, something might be making the system think that previous drive A is now drive B and some other one is drive A, if you get my drift?

I've had something similar happen to me, changed to new ram and lost all my cached passwords/usernames and other settings...

hmmm, never added RAM to an XP box, but plenty of others with no changes.

I would go back and make sure it it seated properly, and if you have flat ribboned cables, make sure they are all seated properly

Yeah Ive done that too. I have added tons of ram to other machines and have never had this issue.

The biggest annoying part is that the anti alasing or something was fucked with and now all my text looks too blurred i think.

Okay, here's the deal:

If you are using a MB with DDR2 ram, there are certain configurations that will allow your system to boot and run apparently normally, but will totally screw stuff up. Check your manual and make sure you added the ram into the right position on the board. Mine happens to like 1 then 3 then 2 then 4. If you put it in 1 and 2 only, it goes rather weird.

Also, you system should have updated the (I think this is the name) EBCD data (hardware config) pre-bootup. if it didn't do that, the system might be a little funky.

Good luck!
