peddling free porn to minors as a form of brandname loyalty for later sales?

i was thinking the other day, and was wondering, how much do you think the success of blogging/tgps/other free content sites depends upon creating a solid base of UNDERAGE porn surfers? it's no secret that people under the age of 18 surf porn on the internet, but the odds of them making a purchase with a credit card are pretty slim. they surf the free sites (i did). but when they eventually become of age, surely they have found a few favorite freesites, which ultimately are where they are hit with the most advertising for new porn there is. they get a creditcard and bam, you're making money. perhaps this is par tof the reason that free sites and blogs take up to a couple years to become truely productive? what are your thoughts.

Hrm. You sound like you're either:

1. A federal prosecutor trying to come up with a rational to give a jury as to why porn companies could possibly want to give free porn to minors when they have no way to profit from them.

2. Someone from the FTC.

3. An attorney working on a class action lawsuit on behalf of Morality In The Media or the Family Research Council.

Given the shelf life of most paysites, and the attention spam of porn consumers, I think it's ridiculous to think they're being branded from TGPs and Free Sites in such a way that it effects their purchasing decisions when they become adults.

Totally stupid. You aren't using your brain. Who the hell wants to give free porn to underage kids when

1. It not only is illegal, it just is not right
2. None of us want to waste years of bandwidth on twerps in the hopes that one day they may come back with a credit card.

This is how we like them.

1. Of legal age
2. Creadit card with room on it to bill monthly
3. Them loving our sites, staying members and telling all thier friends (who are also of legal age and have a credit card in hand) to join.

i don't think any of you get what i'm saying. maybe i didn't go into depth enough, and made too quick a post to get my thoughts across here...

i'm not trying to say that you should peddle smut towards minors, and i'm not trying to say this is something anyone should try to do. i'm just saying, don't you think that a large percentage of freesite surfers aren't even of legal porn purchasing age? think about it...

I was considering who makes up the traffic which come to my blogs the other day, and one of the first things that came to mind was teenagers surfing for free porn. i mean, when i was 16, i got all my porn from tgps and so on. there was nothing stopping me from searching "free porn" clicking through to a tgp, and finding access to a ton of free pornography. by the time i was 18, i had already made up my mind as to which sites i would regularly visit. before the age of 18, i had already been sold onto which sites i would hit up for my pornfix. i had some form of "brand name loyalty" instilled in me. surely to fuck i wasn't the only one. don't think morals here, think reality...

now consider this, it takes some time for a tgp or blog to really gain its momentum and earning power, right? what i am questioning is, exactly how much do you think waiting out your underage surfers to reach that legal purchasing age has as as effect on the income of your blog/tgp etc? surely there's a shitpile of 16 year olds viewing all our blogs just waiting to be able to buy a paysite pass, and where are they going to find links to these sites? their favorite free sites!

maybe it was an offbeat thought, maybe it was justa common-sense sort of thing, that doesn't really warrant any discussion. i don't know, i was just wondering what the opinions of others were on the topic.

once again, i would like to state, that i am not advocating that webmasters target minors (though, i think the offer of free porn anywhere does that on its own), and that i don't do this on my own. it was just a random thought, i thought i would share with the hopes that it might spur some discussion that would bring up other topics and discussion based on the topic of blogtraffic and success. so go ahead and cut me down if you want, there's nothing to really cut down...

is my post to long to read or what? i should have put more thought into my thread title i guess being as that seems to be all anyone is responding too...

AGAIN. I AM NOT ADVOCATING THIS, OR SUGGESTING THAT ANYONE SHOULD DO IT...

I was just considering facts surrounding blogs/tgps and trying to relate them to eachother...

There is no way you can stop minors from viewing your free content sites, it's just going to happen. You are going to develope a return base of underage viewers whether you like it or not. My thoughts were just that with blogs/tgps taking up to a couple years to really take off, how much of that do you think relates to the minor-readership your site is bound to develope reaching a legit purchasing age?

it stuns the shit out of me that everybody's response so far is "that's so wrong" uhhhhhh. "you're a cop" and so on. its just a thought that came regarding the relation between underage viewers and the time taken for a blog to develope a real earning potential. am i really not communicating the thought i had worth a shit here or something? I AM NOT TRYING TO SAY I WANT TO TARGET AN UNDERAGE AUDIENCE!!!

For someone that smokes blunts all the time, I think you have some very valid points! I absolutely agree that TGP sites gain brand loyalty from under-aged surfers. I bet each and every one of us can remember the first TGP site that had us running home after school to take a peek.

it seems to me that people are just uncomfortable discussing the fact that there are obviously underage viewers on their sites. if you don't want to talk about it, fine, i won't post in this thread anymore, we can let it die. i guess i get the picture of what other people's opinions on the subject are now.

Note that I DID think before posting this, and I thought fairly hard on whether or not it has an effect. To which I myself came to the conclusion that there has got to be a relation between the longevity of a site, it's fanbase, and the taboo 'underage viewers' that apparently everyone is in a fright to mention. i think alot of the return viewers to sites start as underage surfers. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know...

Of course we all want adult viewers with intention of paying, thats what we all want, nobody WANTS minors eating up their bandwidth with no intention of ever buying. Or to be known as someone who supplies porn to minors, which all of us who are running freecontent sites ARE doing inadvertently (and which I think may be resonsible for outward blasting of the topic on some people's parts, guilt perhaps?). I don't understand why people insist on taking this as though i'm advocating or trying to defend or whatever. I look at people's outward blasting of my thread as their own denial of this fact. Are you afraid to admit to yourself that what you're doing might come with some heavy moral objections? Fact of the matter is that freecontent pornsites are open to anyone horny enough to find them, minors included...

Whatever, I don't really care that much, let the thread die, I don't care to argue it any as I'm not that concerned about it anyways and it really isn't that important. Chop me for attempting to start a reasonable discussion. It went totally wrong I suppose...
