WTC 2002: The new building ...

Anybody seen this yet?
www.wtc2002.com

That new design looks okay. I do think they will build something new there, it would be too expensive not to. You know it all boils down to $$ in the end. They miss out on a fortune by not selling offices and things like that.

I personally like some of the new building proposals. Looks like a good use of the space and also a tribute/memorial at the same time. I keep hearing people say that the only thing that should be there is a memorial and no commercial use of any of the space but that makes zero sense to me. Actually it seems to me it would be letting the terrorists win in a way.

We've got to remember what happened, pay tribute to those who lost their lives, and also rebuild and make productive use of the area again and not take any steps backwards.

Hmm, four towers would require more airplanes to strike them all down...

Just fucking ... seriously though - the 2833 trees, for each victim one is cheesy. Why not plant a tree for each Jew killed in WWII ?

Bleh.

There are actually like 6 models of the trade center being decided upon. This is one of them.
Don't get your hopes up on this one , cause they could pick another one.

Do you think 'you' (Americans) should move on and build stuff up there, or put down a park and not build any big buildings at all?

I cannot imagine how big the sight is, never having been there, but is there a lot of space for both?

In a perfect world there would be a memorial and only that.
In americas corrupt political economy ...
we'll build over it with $$$ in mind.
They know they would take a huge loss with money . They will build and empire of stores/offices/appartments over it. Watch.

I think they should build a small park or something there.
Sad but true but if you build a new huge building there it would be a perfect target for those fucked up terrorists.

exactly. security would be a major concern tho. terrorists seem to be attracted to the wtc. maybe call it something different.

I think none of these options are bold enough. We need something at least as magnificent as the 1973-2001 Twin Towers were. Anything less is showing that we will allow terrorists to determine what we can build, and how we can build it. Building 4 small buildings on there is horrible, ie: building offices on people's graves. If you build something REALLY special, then the whole plaza becomes a monument to them, ie: a 110 story memorial.

It is a great site, but this just isn't right:

""My answer is this "Our New Cyber City Design Concept for The New World Trade Center 2002 will be impervious to attack'"

Such ideas are what get us into trouble. The idea that we won't let the terrorists "win" is fine and dandy, until another 3K people die.

The security needed to secure this site - which has been successfully attacked on two dates would greatly outweigh the costs lost in terms of revenue. There is no such thing as 100% security.

It is sad to note that the old monument that stood for the early attack was swept away during the 9/11 attack.
