Bigger issue than Zango... AFF shaves!

Well if they are involved in this Zango conspiracy, who would actually trust that their stats would be accurate?

Not like you can even do a test order, since they provide no data to the affiliate, no way to confirm anything.

He is not saying that they shave, just that it is possible as they admit shaving by the use of Zango. Of course some people will be banned here soon including myself. Ultimately I think all the effort will be time wasted. I am still considering promoting Zango and the other 40+ scumbags until things get so bad that the government has no choice but to step in and shut them down.

You're missing the point... do the math and think of what percentage of traffic is affected by these programs as a whole before they even get to you, and you soon realize that as much as 40% of traffic is currently going into the adware chasm without being productive. If Zango is only 1-2% of traffic, remember they all add up. While it's a noble cause to go after one, it's only going to mean that when that one is gone, there's 39 or so left to fight.

Yup... but Ladymischief, although I take alexa rankings and stats with a grain of salt, there is some proof there. The reach of AFF is down 25% this month from last, and I can't help but think that webmasters de-linking them is part of that reduction, especially in the face of apparently increased spending.

Other programs should take note: You too could suddenly lose a ton of traffic for playing with the wrong people. Zango is only one of many, but the warning applies evenly across all of these sorts of things.

The people calling for an AFF response, the thread has been going for around 6 hours, and on the west coast its still very early + it’s a holiday, I just woke up after passing out early last night after Thanksgiving Dinner, so I woke up at 6am and thought I would check out gfy…

I glanced at the alexa rankings for aff a few weeks ago (I cant pull alexa up right now) and imo it did not appear to have changed recently, the trend looked consistent from the end of last year

You are absolutely right and it is a point I have made several times. The scumware apologists attempt to play down this issue by using this approach to their own advantage.

On the other hand, even if it were possible to organize a strategy instead of having to make do with the uncertainties of board drama, it likely would be sensible to focus on one target at a time. In terms of this board at least, that could mean AFF, cams.com and by extension, Zango.

Corvette, you need to re-check those alexa numbers, because the reality is different from what you are thinking.

Recent numbers show a drop in overall rank, and upwards to 25% drop in reach (pages per million).

As for "give AFF a break, it's thanksgiving", we have been waiting for reponses on these issues for a while now, it ain't the turkey (at least not the edible kind) that is keeping them from the boards. The only time Lars or Sagi has come here to discuss this was to try to tar and feather Will and clickcash... otherwise their entire game plan has been to avoid the subject and keep their contest threads bumped, even if they need fake nick low post count people to do it.

i still cant pull up alexa so im going off of memory, but i dont disagree that there is a 25% drop from one month to another, but when i looked, i though that drop started before this year, and was pretty consistant...

i was not talking about a response to any overlying issue, just about a response to this thread...i am in, or close to the same timezone as lars and the thread was started after midnight the day after thanksgiving and i checked it at 6

3 month reach: 9565 current 7600, about a 21% drop.

Considering that reach peaked out around 14,000 or so, 7600 is a pretty major drop off. Just as importantly, looking at the reach graph, you can see the drop off relative to Zango here and people indicating that they are removing AFF.

Actions = reactions.

Compared to other programs, the level of detail of AFF stats is a big fucking joke ...

Add to that that they:
- Deal with Adware/Spyware companies
- Steal from their own affiliates (marketing efforts)
- Have loads of fake profiles
- Endorse Social Community spamming
- Accept warez, p2p, torrent sites to push them

yeah...that shows indeed a nice overall picture of AFF when it comes to trust and morals

how can you see by one's stats that a program is shaving or not? it's impossible to proof anything on the affiliate point of view.

Smokey, just the use of Zango is a "shave" in it's own right. That they are willing to use spyware / scumware / malware companies to provide traffic, and to take that traffic potentially from their own affiliates is a shave above and beyond what most other companies even have the balls to try to sneak through.
