Aff has exclusive deal with Zango ?

I spoke to my zango rep today and was informed that Adultfriendfinder will not let anyone bid on their domains and keywords.

Apparently lars found a solution to his problem of sexsearch intercepting his traffic. Adultfriendfinder must have made a deal with zango that prevents anyone from targeting their domains, well except for them from what i see. I am going to contact the FTC tomorrow. I am not sure but if this is true i do not think this is legal. Zango's site is based off of people bidding on search terms. I do not think it is legal for them to allow Aff to have a monopoly on those domains and keywords.

If Aff has their domains locked up no one can intercept there traffic. So why do they continue to use an affiliate id in their zango pop up pages? I don't understand. Why intercept traffic from your affiliates and then say you are giving it back in raised payouts? Why don't you just drop the affiliate id and not intercept traffic in the first place if you don't have to. When you pop up cams.com over one of your Aff affiliate's urls, why not pop up an Aff page with no affiliate ID? This way everyone gets credit for their sales like they are suppose to. lars please come explain to us why you will not do this. Did you make a deal with Zango, no one else can bid on your domains? If so why do you still take sales from your affiliates ? Who else would be sending traffic to adultfriendfinder.com ? only your affiliates would, so why do you use your own affiliate id in the url?

I was also told that I can not send zango traffic to my own adultfriendfinder page. That's right. Aff doesn't allow their affiliates to use zango, seems to me they locked it up all for themselves. This is another issue I think the FTC will be interested in finding out about. Also Lars, why are you still targeting other sites like sexsearch now if they can't intercept your traffic. Why are you continuing to intercept everyone else's traffic? Perhaps this is why you wont let your affiliates use zango. I was told by a zango rep that I can not send any zango traffic to an Aff page. I guess Aff wants to make sure their affiliates don't compete with them for other people's traffic. Why would Aff want to give an affiliate commission to you if you are using zango when they would rather cut your out of the picture and make the zango sales to everyone else's sites 100% for themselves.

Cliff notes.
Aff made possible deal with zango and locked up their domains, no one else can bid on their urls.
Aff will not allow any of their affiliates to buy traffic on zango. They still target everyone else's traffic and wont even allow their own affiliates to use zango and compete with them. When you see any Aff zango ad it is from Aff and not one of their affiliates.

Aff is in bed with zango more then ever now from what i see. There is no way they are going to stop. To me they just locked it up so no one else can touch it. Monopoly ? I will let the FTC decide this.

Under this situation, it is clear that AFF is paying a form of blackmail or ransom to Zango to keep it's customers - with the side benefit of being able to take sales from their affiliates on the way by.

Free Legendary Lars. Zango is making him do it.

Seems to me that it is a trademark violation (if you have a trademark) anyhow. Zango is profiting off of someone elses name (domain name).

Why??? to understand the machine, you have to use it.

Now if he goes out and actually tries to make money from it, it is a different story all together.

Nice Keywords!! Thanks for the suggestion Zango.

I am kinda surprised that AFF locked up their urls. I thought when Lars said they were looking for a solution it was to stop using zango from using their urls not to make a deal with them so no one else could use their urls AND for them to continue using them themselves (taking from their affiliates). This doesn't help their affiliates at all. I also don't think it is fair that he can target ifriends with AFF shit but ifriends can't target him. Seens like some type of ftc violation to me.

I can't read what that is. If it's a pop up, you don't need a zango account to see that, all you need is to have zango in your computer.

If you have a zango ADVERTISER account, then you should know better than any of us how it works and how it's done.

Who says ifriends can't get the same deal?

I still think Zango is playing with peoples trademarks though. I don't see how they can possibly make money off of peoples "domain names".

because you don't have a business that allows everyone to bid on terms for a bunch of sites. You are just an affiliate, not a multimillion dollar corperation that sells traffic. it would be like google saying we worked out a deal with pepsi and all coke search results we will show pepsi ads. We will not sell to pepsi, and all cola search for that matter will go to pepsi too. When a program, search engine, etc.. controlls that much traffic and sell a service to the public, espcially one that is based on "bids" it seems like they would have to at least be fair and follow their own rules.

I don't not the laws behind all of this but it seems fishy to me and I would not be surprised if they are breaking some type of rules.

maybe they could, but i know they don't want to.

So basically zango should through their bid system out of the window and force all sites to lock up exclusive deals on their own domains. I am sure zango would love this. Nice trend you started there AFF.

I don't get the part why AFF wont let other AFF affiliates use zango.

I go to AFF i get cams.com popup. I go to Cams.com I get AFF pop up. I go to Alt.com I get passion.com popup. I don't get sexsearch or any other popups for your domains so what tampa is saying looks like it is true from my end.

Tampa why don't rely what Sagi said and see if they will lift that ban for you.

You know Sagi i dont know wtf to belive anymore. You yourself have been good to me over the years and for that i am greatful. But now man this whole fuckin zango thing is just a big mess. You got people on both side of the fences with the issue. I do not understand why you guys continue to use this shit when your own afilliates are bitching about this. I wish you guys would seriously take a look at the big picture here. This will be my last thread about the whole zango issue. From this point on i will doing shit behind the scenes to fight this problem. I understand what you are doing is legal but is it right?

zango sells any keyword and our trademarked domain names to the highest bidder our prices are set by the next highest bidder on keywords not an exclusivity deal

Like we have stated before we are buying on our domain names to prevent competition from dueing so. It bears repeating that we pop Cams.com on AFF and AFF on Cams.com.

Have you guys looked into solving this problem in anyway? I mean since your name is trademarked this should be a open and shut case. You guys got the financial means to do something big here.

I don't know where that is coming from. This may be a decision that Zango made on their end to only work with us directly. As far as I know no one from inside the FF offices has instructed them to not work with our affiliates.

Yes it's ongoing. If we can prevent bidding on our domains that would be optimal.

not really. Say I promoted AFF and I wanted to buy zango traffic and target say sex.com. I wouldn't be stealing from AFF I would be making them more money. Why wouldn't they let me do this (according to what tampatoker posted).

Like we have stated before we are buying on our domain names to prevent competition from dueing so. It bears repeating that we pop Cams.com on AFF and AFF on Cams.com.
1. Who gets credit for the sale when your AFF affiliate send traffic to you, that they paid for and worked hard for you, who gets credit for that cams.com page that you pop up over their traffic ? Will they get credit for the cams.com page ? Why not let them make the sale. YOU still make it too, but instead you want to make 100% of it and give them nothing.

2. Why do you buy other people's domains. I am sure you noticed by now that ClickCash does not allow any of their affiliates (or themselves) to use zango. So why are you targeting Ifriends.com (FUCKING GREED? )

3. How are you protecting your domain when you are not the high bidder. If you don't have an exclusive deal then you really can't protect your domain, right ?

LOL Lars fucking ripped on me for hours saying " IF clickcash was really working on it they would have a solution by now".

So what the fuck is that all about. It is ok for you guys to take a while to find a solution but Clickcash should have it solved by now ???

Nothing you can do to protect your trademark. Make 100+ million dollars a year and your team of lawyers can't use google?

Hotel operator Six Continents charges the controversial ad company with trademark infringement for serving pop-up ads over its hotel Web sites.

The long list of plaintiffs suing Gator just got longer.

Earlier this week, hotel-chain operator Six Continents filed suit against the ad-supported software maker, charging it with trademark and copyright infringement, unfair business practices, and misleading visitors to its hotel Web sites. Six Continents' hotel brands include Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, and Intercontinental.

Six Continents' suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Atlanta, asks for a court order that Gator cease what it called a "parasitic advertising scheme" and pay damages for infringement.

The hotel operator joins a similar suit filed last month by UPS, which charged Gator with serving pop-up advertisements of competitors that covered its Web site. A group of publishers -- including The Washington Post Co., The New York Times Co, and The Gannett Co. -- have also filed suit against Gator.
SAME THING. Gator settled on damages and stopped doing it. They knew they didn't have a leg to stand on to fight it.

That's the whole point Will... Why should they let YOU target those sites when they already do themselves and pocket 100% of the money?

If you ABSOLUTELY want to target them, there are plenty of other adware applications out there that will gladly allow you to do so. You might even get MORE than 20 million infected surfers.

All I See on zango now is their shit. Its in the tool bars, i would say 80% of all the adult sites are theirs, and 100% of their domains are their popups from what I have seen checking the last couple hours.

The only difference here Will is that these companies that sue probably don't pop their own ads over their competitors' sites like AFF does. They want to stop others from using their trademarks and covering their sites with ads yet they do it to them too. What do they want? The whole cake and eat it too? A judge would laugh them out of court.

I dont see how its fair business practice of any company poping up over my website which i did all the work to get them there. So we will see how all plays out.

So maybe another sponsor who is getting their site poped over should sue AFF and Zango.

I'd totally agree with AFF blocking their keywords on zango so long as they arn't buying it themself - that would prevent a free market. I could not see them doing that.

AFF makig a deal with zango to block their keywords would be EXACLY what everyone on here is asking for!

so maybe wait a day or too and see what happens. I have faith is AFF doing the right thing here.

I say wait a day or two simply cause it may take that long for zango up to update all their systems.

don't be so quick to judge - do it based on FACTS

Thats the hotel and newspaper business. They think beyond next week and have ethics and morals *turn off sarcasm*.

They do not go for the quick buck, they see the way forward. This industry started rarely thinks beyond next week unless planning on what pimp outfit to wear at the next show.
