Old news. Nextel has had this service for well over a year. We've used to track a relative with alzheimer's for a year now.

Problem is if you loose cell service, then you get the last known tower location. So if she goes into say a Walmart store (metal box) we can't see her location. So it's not 100%, but better than nothing.

This technology acutally does exist. A friend of mine drove truck for Fema after hurricane Wilma. They made 500 trucks sit in a parking lot down in Miami, loaded with water and tarps for over a week.
