Using Paypal for credit card processing on mainstream site, opinions

So I wanted to connect paypal payments to my mainstream site and I noticed they also offer credit card processing, do you think it is worth using them for credit card processing? I will not do anythign adult so I do not expect any problems, however please write any pros and cons, thanks.

I actually use it on a couple small mainstream sites that don't do a whole lot in sales (basically selling ad subscriptions). So far, I haven't had any problems with it at all.

Only problem I could see so far is that they will probably decline epassporte virtual visa card, am I correct with this assumption?

Are you selling goods or a membership type thing? I read that someone decided to use 2checkout on their site instead of PayPal because they didn't want to take the risk of having PayPal shut them down as some sort of MLM site. It was a membership site with paid upgrades. Not sure what PayPal's rules etc. are regarding that type of thing.

when dealing with paypal, you always run the risk of the random account limitations and the bending over and spreading asscheeks just to get it unlimited over a transaction you had no control over.

Oh come on now. Paypals fees are not that bad when compared to anything in adult unless you have your own merchant account. You also can easily include such fees in your pricing structure.
As for limits, again false. In reality the more volume you do the lower the fee's go.

As for paypal rejecting epassportes virtual visa and possibly the normal card as well. I really would not see a lot of users who only have epassporte and no credit card or paypal account.

Now if you are going to attempt to walk a grey line with their TOS or do something shady like MLM or the like. Avoid them and go with some other company.

Best bet as mentioned though is just to have several billing choices on your site.

There will be nothing shady, advertisers will pay for the traffic and I suspect some of them will use mostly epassporte virtual cards

paypal is US only for CC's, have not found many epassporte attempts that gotten thru, although the USA users , said it does work.. so perhaps they can tell what country the card is from.

Paypal is good but it has limits for monthly proccessing so if you have high volume proccessing then you need to have more options not just paypal.I reccomend 2checkout and alertpay.

It really depends on what your selling, if your selling ebay/auction/ebooks/webmaster products using paypal will only increase your sales ratios, if your selling electronics, clothes, antiques etc it might hurt your sales since many of those people will have never used paypal.

On our jewelry sites we orignally used 2co and paypal. Ditched 2co about 2 years ago because of some of their policies. We have been paypal only for the past 2 years, have had no complaints from customers (retail or wholesale) and have had no problems with paypal (knock on wood).

paypal is a good starting option as it is very cheap compared to setting up a normal merchant account, especially if you are not in the states...

As others have said, depending on what you are selling, paypal is a decent start. If you are sending out / shipping physical items, get delivery confirmation or tracking for everything. If a buyer opens a dispute with paypal (non delivery, wrong item, etc), paypal will almost *always* side with the buyer unless the seller can prove the item was shipped.

Exactly.

The best solution is to use your own merchant account for Visa/MasterCard/Amex/Discover etc. and offer the 'original' PayPal to those who want PayPal.
