Acoustic Guitars
I figure there has to be some guitar players here.. What's a good Acoustic-Electric Guitar? I used to play around in high school but gave it up after that. I want to re-learn and I've never had an Acoustic Guitar before, so I'm not sure what the better models are.
Anyone have any sugestions?

I have bought many guitars, electric & acoustic from http://www.chrisguitars.com he has a great inventory that updates daily (usually) and he takes trade-ups too.
Shit website layout, but great deals and a real nice guy to deal with. |

You can get an acoustic guitar for any budget from $99 to thousands. I just picked up a Taylor acoustic this past month. It sounds amazing but it wasn't cheap
Visit a music store and play a few different brands. I'm sure you'll find something that ya' like |

you probably want a dreadnought style and id say the better brands are martins, taylors, and anything else made in the usa if you got the cash... if not, check out the yamaha's or seagulls

Ok guys thanks 4 the replies I guess the best way is to just go check out some of the local shops. I was thinking of buying online.. but it would suck if I didn't like it once I got it.

that said get a guitar that has good fret action, test play the frets to check for burring, make sure the neck is straight, etc. nylon strings sound different than steel string, 12 string sounds way different than 6 string. lots of personal factors. my favs: ovation, gibson, martin, fender only if you have small hands. |

I would have to go with the Martin or Taylor, but also some of older acoustics that are not as reknown as Fender, M, T, or Washburn.
My other guitar is 76' Alvarez which has a great sound! Anything with a good neck. Happy Hunting!

I've been using an ovation here for almost 6 years now. So far, the best brand I've tried.

totally depends on how much you are willing to spend.
i have an ovation electric acoustic. it's a fine guitar to just fuck around with, but eventually i would like to get a Martin electric/acoustic. the one i am looking at costs about 2 grand tho. my advice is to go to a good guitar store and just play. you will find one you like. good names are Adams, Ovation, Martin, Taylor, and Takamine.

My only two choices are Taylor, or Takamine. Taylor is all high end, but Tak has several different lines. Id recommend getting one that is from 700.00 and up. I have a higher end Tak that I love. Taylors start at about 2k.

Without a doubt the nicest guitar I've ever had. Sounds unusual. Like a bell almost. Beautiful, rich, warm tones. Cannot recommend them highly enough. |

i forget the name of the pickup but i have a guild jumbo and the pickup (aftermarket) is under the bridge and it is bad ass. smokes any (sonically) ovation or takamine ... could be the pickup not necessarily the guitar. its not mounted in the soundhole like some acoustic pickups, very thin under the bridge cant see it unless your changing strings - WOW MOMMA
i suppose might sound just as good on a cheapo acoustic (many of which do play nice - i play my sigma (martin cheapo) more than my guild jumbo |
