IE 7 has changed my life...

I now use Firefox.

You don't do an update and move all the buttons around and not let you move them where you want and change basic functionality.

to Mozilla

Glad to hear horror stories before I install. I usually wait a while before installing new MS products. Bugs all the time.

I've always preferred and used IE until I installed IE7 last night. Now I'm a dedicated FF user.

Firefox 2 has that history menu at the top. You hit ALT+S to post and bam! History drops down. I don't want a drop down history menu anyway.

the new firefox is a crash happy piece of crap, besides that firefox just isnt functional as a browser., its more like a novelty browser..

Instead of constantly modifying my sites to work for firefox i have now just setup a firefox drop page letting them know they can no longer visit my sites and to get a real browser

The only good thing about firefox is the community of people who develop for it..

Other than that its just like those tiny electric cars.. useless , a fun novelty item to show friends but useless as a functioning browser

People with firefox should try some of the members areas of your sponsors some time, i find many of them have zero support for firefox ( i.e. doesnt work )

Firefox has this strange stuck up attitude that keeps their browser from competing and it seems in this new version they didnt give up that trend. They are stuck on doing everything to web specifications.. thats not entirely a bad thing , but sometimes its foolish..

A good example of how firefox operates is this.. ever heard that old joke about " why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway ? " well firefox takes that questions seriously , so they would make people park on parkways and drive on driveways just because its the correct way..

Heres what it boils down to .. as a "surfer" Do you want to view a webpage how the owner intended for you to view it , or do you want to see a webpage the PROPER letter of the html law way even if its functionally broken..

if you coded to standards and properly, you wouldn't have that problem

i have had ZERO problems with any of my sites working in firefox... or IE, i guess maybe relearn how you code?

blaming a browser for being standard compliant is kind of foolish itself don't ya think? if IE wasn't such craptasticly shitty at rendering standard code to compliance, EVERYONE would already be coding to compliance, but no, they allow mistakes, and thats the problem... you code to compliance, you have less mistakes, your site looks and works better

why nigg*r rig it when you can make it correctly?

i doubt you would want your car just put together sloppy, because its easier that way, then have it done properly and not cost you an arm and a leg to fix it...

It crashes all the freakin time, drives me nuts, but at least I can recover from the crash now. It's a bug, it will get fixed over time.

MS has been trying to diversify the company into so many products they have already started to neglect most products they produce, more than they already do. It isn?t hard to find better products than MS products. Once the OS playing field levels out, MS will be done.

I?m not a huge FF fan, IE is way faster and slick as shit compared to FF. At some point people will be forced to upgrade though and just like IE did to Nutscrape, FF (or someone) will do the same thing to IE very soon.

I have not used FF that long, but I really can?t recall a porn site that doesn?t work in FF. I have seen sites that don?t work but it?s always because of bad jscript, which a quick click of a button and the site shows.

And, how do you build a site that doesn?t work in FF? Doesn?t that mean the HTML/CSS is formatted incorrectly or a lame editor was used?

I think i already pointed that out... and pointed out how idiotic it is to follow stupid rules.. i dont code for a book i code for my viewers, if i coded by firefox's book sites would be crap.

You arent going to have problems if you code easy crap..

Show me something innovative that works in firefox and ie that you have done ?

nope i code fine, its firefox that cant understand it , and frankly i couldnt care less , firefox users simply cant access my shit anymore

nope i explained this already.. you wouldnt give up functionality just fdr the sake of being proper.

would you want "parkway's" renamed to driveways and driveways renamed to parkways just because that would make "proper" sense ? would you want your car to suddenly slam on the brakes while your driving down a parkway because cars shouldnt go fast when on a "park"way

You have a point here , but that doesnt change the NOW. and it also doesnt change the fact if you code by compliance you lose funtionality.. there are things i can do in ie that firefox just cant handle period .. until they do they are just a bad imitation..

I want my car to run, period , the safer the better, firefox's method is to not start unless eveything is perfect, got a dirty windshield nope sorry wont run. pine needle on the bumper , sorry wont run.. crooked mudflaps , sorry no go..

then there are the things firefox does just to be idiotic like changing custom commands like adding to favourites.. ie already has a function built for it.. firefox could just have used the same one, but no they want a special firefox one that does the exact same thing as in i.e. but with different code.. so instead of me doing one simple command onclick=addtofavourites now i have to detect firefox and use multiple codes , wasting html wasting space wasting page load , waste of time, has nothing to do with compliance it has to do with idiocy

or because firefox cant support the functions.

Try controlling multiple types of embedded video with javascript thru firefox. its damn near impossible. In ie its a breeze.

so you're pretty much dening 30% of your visitors just because you refuse to code to complaincy because you think its an idiotic thing to do, just because microsoft allows sloppy code?

why not just give a warning on the page saying "hey, firefox user, this site won't load properly for you because i refuse to code to standards and only code to microsofts standards..."

It does have a warning , it says firefox isnt a proper browser and points them where to get a proper browser at.. firefox isnt even close to 30%

Why do you have to be a smartass it has nothing to do with sloppy code.. many ie features are cool but not compliant has nothing to do with "sloppy" just doesnt have a web standard , and firefox doesnt support it.. plain and simple..

Do you have a car ? did you buy the technically "most compliant" car ? or did you buy the one you wanted.. ? I code for what people want not what is most compliant.. and since im in the biz it would be silly for me to have a car dealership that sold "compliant" cars that only a small percentage of people are looking for.. furthermore im saying i dont even want the "compliant" cars on my lot because they suck and only a few people buy them..

You don't need to use js to control multi types of embedded videos. A small amount of js detection and php can do all this error free. With that I view a good amount of videos online through FF and never have problems.

With the bookmark/favs.. FF kinda had to do it differently with live bookmarks. The entire bookmark idea will slowly die anyway, it will all be rss subscribe links before to long..

uhhh... actually yes it does have to do with sloppy code... if your code isn't sloppy firefox has NO problems displaying it... only thing is it doesn't display IE only code at all, it doesn't break the browser and crash, it doesn't show the site all skewed, it just doesn't show it at all, much like IE's not showing the -moz style tags that work only in mozilla based browsers...

you're just being ignorant and blaming firefox because of your mistakes...

Madrox, while I may agree with you on this.. Your site is rather bad example of a site that works in FF.. If that didn't work then every site would be broken.

haha, yeah im not using my site as an example... he just decided to bring it in as an example... my site is minimal because thats what i want it to be... i have had some horrificly designed sites that were all tables and thrown together, alot of shit... worked fine in both IE and FF

what im getting at with this statement is, only problem firefox has rendering websites is because of how the code is, if its broken, its shitty coding, if it displays properly, its correct coding... its that simple, its not because firefox is out to get anybody who only uses IE, its because they are doing it to the STANDARDS set by W3
