Blog Software (biz thread)

Ok, I don't use WP, Autoblogger, Babelogger ect ect... ost of the popular blog script I have stayed away from I use something else and run a netwrok of 30+ blogs that are doing pretty good PR wise and traffic wise. I see threads all the time asking about WP ect ect.. I have worked on a few blogs for sponsors running WP and think while it is a good script what I use is better.

I am not looking for an arguement, rather a few people running WP, Babelogger ect ect... to hit me on ICQ to compare scripts. I won't post what I use here if you want to chat just hit me on ICQ: 170890891

I would lke those who talk to me to respond in this thread and hope it actually helps a few peeps.

Thanks.....

The script I use I find more user friendly, and rather then posting the URL and getting tons of ICQ's asking on how to use it all I ask is people hit me up and I can show them working examples so they can gather a better understanding on how to use wtf is wrong with that?

They've been a dying breed for 3 years now.

Regarding TP... how is it better than WP, in your opinion?

It is more user friend;y you can basically install it and go learning curve is less then Wp. This doesn't distract from the power of the script it has some very powerfull though simular plugins to wp.

Textpattern, has a large user base and like WP a very good developer. I have been using the script for over a year on a large network one that I will show anyone on ICQ and everyone I have shown the script has loved it.

There are those who love WP and I aint going to bag them, I only wanted to point out there are other freeware blog scripts out there as powerfull if not more powerfull then WP. I have learnt that having a one on one conversation with a person can make it so much easier, hence my reluctence to ost the url. But with what I know I am happy to answer any questions should anyone have them.

what kind of plugins does it allow? because between the 20 plugins I have installed on each of my blogs, I basically have a copy of the original autoblogger pro

I can make a post in my wordpress install, and with the plugins I have installed, it will get picked up google in less than 24 hours

to me also, using something that is so widely used has it advantages, you have thousands of people working on making that software better at all time, whether it be from plugins, mods or themes, if you think that it can do something, someone will make it happen in very short time

Currently there are around 400 plugins for the script, a few of them include P.O.T.D random articles, RSS feeds really made easy takes me two mins to setup an RSS feed. Othersw include Author Pages, Google site map, archived posts, custom calenders. Image ratings, Reviews, gallery plugin, partner accounts you set there privliages. The script is very temlate friendly user variables are easy to get a hangf of I can convert a current template you might buy from say xlabor to Textpattern in under an hour. And thats just the tip of the iceburg.

hm..sounds cool...I might check it out when I get time just to see it in action

I guess it just all boils down to what I know best though, I know wordpress like the back of my hand, inside and out, and to start using something different at this point would just hold me back

plus, most of the major "posting out" blog platforms don't post to textpattern, so that is a major setback

Ya thats pretty much the point I was trying to make, I have stayed out of a lot of RSS threads since most of the people posting are having problems using rss feeds ojn wp blogs. I don't have that problem it's really a simple process using tp. I'd be more then happy to give you an account at one of our blogs to see the admin backend that goes for anyone here.

well, the whole issue with wordpress and feed is that the sponsors don't create feeds properly, all wordpress does with feedwordpress is import the feed exactly as it is written, so when the feed has errors, so will the wordpress users

and even if textpattern fixes errors, I still think it is important for sponsors to create error free feeds, which most don't.....majority of them can't validate properly through feedvalidator.org

I can only go on what I have tried, giving I don't use wp I have run a few blogs on it for a few sponsors. I am yet to come across a feed that doesn't work on TP. It does use the same process as WP does for feeding the feeds, I'd like you to hit me up mate to show you a few things when you have the time.

Hehe, very cool. The nice thing about the "old" ABP is that it installed as a package .. bingo, bango, boomo, it was ready to go. I mean, sure, you COULD cobble everything together and make all of the code changes that ABP made .. but at like $12/license .. why? Time is money!

I think the Stand Alone sets a new bar.

I was just looking at the blogs you guys are running and checking out the script you are using. I was wondering if you can manage all those sites from one back end or is that script like WP and needs a separate install for each?

I'm also not happy with WP or anything else I've found so far, I've been trying to find a scipt that will allow me to run a bunch of sites from one back end.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but that's what we designed Autoblogger Pro Stand Alone to do -- manage a number of blog sites (including those on WordPress.com, and Blogger.com, or your own hosted WordPress installs).

http://www.abpsa.com if you'd like to take a look.

If you run all the blogs one the one server and use a subdomain for each blog you can use it to run all of them. But amt you can't run multiple domains on the same server or not.

Meaning, it's got a single control panel for ALL of your blogs on the subdomains of the main domain? If so, I'm going to check it out right away, and probably look very closely at adding support for it into Autoblogger Pro.

Multiuser WordPress is just sucking balls.

Yes you are correct, this is not built into the script it does require a plugin but there easy to install.

Cool ... any idea if it works like MUWP? I need something that can deploy a large number of subdomain-based blogs that I can then post to using Autoblogger Pro.

most scripts can be easily modified to run a large blog network, just get a indian programmer to modify it for you, it's not expensive and is going to make money in the long run...running an out of the box open source is just stupid...
