I agree...let Cheney and Rumsfeld or the Bush twins go relieve them for a month and then I think you would see some policy changes fast...

I meant no disrespect to the troops - I did six years active duty in the military (more than Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld combined) so I know what it is like.

Should the Congress, both the Senate and the House of Representatives, switch from Republican to Democratic majorities as early returns indicate may well happen, it will almost certainly be attributable to voters being fed up with the Bush policy in Iraq and domestic political corruption, much of which can be traced back to the Bush Administration.

Should this happen, I am not optimistic, but nonetheless I do hope that the message gets through to the White House, and that the smarter minds within the Executive Branch will start finding a way to get our troops out of harms way, instead of using our soldiers as daily fodder for a failed policy.

Our continued occupation of Iraq will not solve the problems of the Middle East nor end terrorism - it only exacerbates it.

to be fair let's look at this realistically, the people who are in the army are generally the poor and uneducated, as much as I personally don't like soldiers getting killed it is actually good for the american economy as the people who in the future would be supported by society no longer are around...

Oddly, the polling, even of stated Democrats, doesn't support that statement.

Judging by your other posts, though, I'm disgusted to share a party with you.

But: Love & Kisses!

The polling nationwide was very clear that the primary issue in this mid-term election was in fact the US policy in Iraq. If you care to cite polls which suggest otherwise, that is what a forum is for.

At this point, the Demos have appeared to have won back control of the House of Representatives.

The Senate is still up for grabs, but could go either way, although at this point in the returns it appears that the Democrats have made a net gain, even if they do not ultimately regain the Senate majority.

FYI, I'm not a registered Democrat...

I guess you would have had to have followed it from the beginning. From CNN:

"Asked which issues were extremely important to their vote, 42 percent said corruption and ethics; 40 percent, terrorism; 39 percent, the economy; 37 percent, Iraq; 36 percent, values; and 29 percent, illegal immigration."

Whew, great. It's people who act in that way that make it less respectable to BE a democrat now. I wish more of them would come out with a disclaimer like that right up front -- thanks for disassociating yourself!
