Drink Driving !!!

An organization here in Melbourne is trying to pass a law that if you are under 25 years of age that your alcohol limit should be 0.00, what are your thoughts, I think it should be for people all ages, the amount of deaths here in aus due to people drink driving is huge.

I think if you cant arrange other transport if you are going out to have a few drinks there is something wrong with you.

0.00 seems harsh. You can have BA levels show up using mouthwash alone.

Personally I can tolerate the limit we have in California...

It would just be nice to see a few more people follow it...

That's pretty much the way it runs in most places, if you are under the influence of alcohol then your insurance is void and you're fucked, although if you are under the limit i'm not sure how it goes.

Why do there have to be a law about what should be common sense?

Drink one or two beers during a dinner, wait for a few hours, and you can drive without a problem, but you would still have alcohol in your system. You want that to be illegal?

Most places there is a 0,5-0,7 promille (1 promille = 0,1%) but as soon as you are involved in a accident, you are the one who will have to pay, if you have ANY trace of alcohol in your blood

It dont matter what law you make, those that want to drink and drive, do it no matter what the fine are, or if they have a drivers license

Last weekend we were out, partying really hard, i got totally shitfaced and apparently drove home.

I have no memory whatsoever how i got home. I dont even remember getting into the car.

When i woke up the next day, the car was carefully parked in the garage.

Drunk driving rules.

Well, I don't it could be harmful if this is the road wherein you're driving at.

We have one of the toughest laws around..3 times and you never drive again..although that won't stop most people. It should be tough

That would be a retarded law. There goes any chance of having a beer with your meal.

The laws around here are pretty reasonable.

0.05 or higher = 12 hour suspension

0.08 or higher = impaired = you are fucked. Automatic 30 day suspension, suspended for additional 1 year if convicted, plus the following year you have an ignition-breathalyzer in your vehicle (at your cost), plus minimum $500 fine.

I have no sympathy for anyone that drinks and drives regardless of the level. I really could care less that it means there is no beer at your meal if you are driving.
