Drink Driving !!!

An organization here in Melbourne is trying to pass a law that if you are under 25 years of age that your alcohol limit should be 0.00, what are your thoughts, I think it should be for people all ages, the amount of deaths here in aus due to people drink driving is huge.

I think if you cant arrange other transport if you are going out to have a few drinks there is something wrong with you.

when i lived in australia i was kinbd of surprised at the aussies view of drunk driving, it was pretty much a normal thing to do...

personally i think they should execute anybody who drinks and drives....but im guessing that would never happen...

LiveDose 11-15-2006 04:18 PM

Now that I'm no longer 25 I think it's a great idea!

I agree with you 100%.

0.00 seems harsh. You can have BA levels show up using mouthwash alone.

What about if you are about 25?

E$_manager 11-15-2006 06:05 PM

In the country where i was living you will loose your license if you're cought drunk.

reynold 11-16-2006 08:32 AM

Better if you don't drink any alcohol before you drive.. and that's for all ages.

martinsc 11-16-2006 08:39 AM

couldn't agree more...
when somebody drinks he shouldn't get anywhere close to a steering wheel....

munki 11-16-2006 08:41 AM

Personally I can tolerate the limit we have in California...

:thumbsup :thumbsup

It would just be nice to see a few more people follow it...

:Oh crap :Oh crap

Mate it is zero alcohol here in Czech! it even goes as far to say if you have an accident and was not in the wrong BUT you have any alcohol in your system YOU are in the wrong and will be charged!

That's pretty much the way it runs in most places, if you are under the influence of alcohol then your insurance is void and you're fucked, although if you are under the limit i'm not sure how it goes.

bobby666 11-16-2006 09:08 AM

12 years without alcohol,that can't be healthy

Machete_ 11-16-2006 09:15 AM

Why do there have to be a law about what should be common sense?

Drink one or two beers during a dinner, wait for a few hours, and you can drive without a problem, but you would still have alcohol in your system. You want that to be illegal?

Most places there is a 0,5-0,7 promille (1 promille = 0,1%) but as soon as you are involved in a accident, you are the one who will have to pay, if you have ANY trace of alcohol in your blood

It dont matter what law you make, those that want to drink and drive, do it no matter what the fine are, or if they have a drivers license

DarkJedi 11-16-2006 09:43 AM

Last weekend we were out, partying really hard, i got totally shitfaced and apparently drove home.

I have no memory whatsoever how i got home. I dont even remember getting into the car.

When i woke up the next day, the car was carefully parked in the garage.

Drunk driving rules.

Well, I don't it could be harmful if this is the road wherein you're driving at. :pimp

We have one of the toughest laws around..3 times and you never drive again..although that won't stop most people. It should be tough

evildick 11-16-2006 12:12 PM

That would be a retarded law. There goes any chance of having a beer with your meal.

The laws around here are pretty reasonable.

0.05 or higher = 12 hour suspension

0.08 or higher = impaired = you are fucked. Automatic 30 day suspension, suspended for additional 1 year if convicted, plus the following year you have an ignition-breathalyzer in your vehicle (at your cost), plus minimum $500 fine.

Sarah_Jayne 11-16-2006 12:25 PM

I have no sympathy for anyone that drinks and drives regardless of the level. I really could care less that it means there is no beer at your meal if you are driving.

evildick 11-16-2006 12:35 PM

Give me a beer with my steak or give me DEATH!
