For sure.

Did you get your categories update (1.09)?

Not yet, but I will soon and put it to the test. I want to read up and figure out how to cron it now and let it run all by itself for a few days.

Sounds good.

I use cURL for cronning, usually, but I believe these can be run individually.

You need a forum. Do you have one?

Meaning, do we have a product that enables you to create forums? Yes.

If you mean do we have a SUPPORT forum? Yes, also, but it hasn't gone "live" yet -- we're tweaking a few custom abilities of the forum still.

Lies, all of it. You're botting in warcraft.

Hey, I won't deny it. I just fired up my laptop, removed Linux, installed Windows, and am now installing World of Warcraft so I can bot on the laptop while I code on the PC. :winkwink:

* Added the ability to post to WordPress categories. Autoblogger Pro will post
to the name of the category the feed was originally pulled using. For example,
if you have defined your feeds as "cars" and "trucks," Autoblogger will post
feeds defined under "cars" into the WordPress category "cars," and will follow
the same behavior for "trucks." If these categories do not exist on the Word-
Press site you're posting to, it is likely that posts will be displayed in the
main category defined for the blog.
Oops, forgot this part. This was the reason I went to do some more testing today. :) Will let you know how this works out for me.. going to set something up and test it soon.

Sounds good! Our testing was done using Autoblogger Pro Stand Alone 1.09 and WordPress 2.0.5, on Yellow Fiber Networks.

Everything worked nicely.

If you encounter problems, please toss me a ticket. :)

ok, just a few things i still miss (correct me if I just didn't see it)

- automatic updates of the blogs using the rss feeds by autoblogger, or do I really have to click 'run autoblogger pro' each time i want my blogs updated?
- something like 'update blog with fresh, randomly choosen rss entries every second day' or so
- crop all images in a feed to a specific width (while keeping the proportions)
- add a prefix (for tracking) to the links in the feed

I wished there was a possibility to make all feeds from different sponsors look the same, because of the differences a blog can really look messy...

other than that I'm very happy with abpsa :-)

seoguy 11-10-2006 06:31 AM

also...

After deleting feeds, the posts are still in the post database and if I wanted to delete them I'd have to do this with every single post... a mass delete option would be nice, or they should dissapear automatically when feeds are deleted...

Another thing is that it's very time comsuming creating rewrite rules. Something with more fields would be nice where you put like 10 lines on the left site for the original words and 10 lines on the right site for the new words... In addition, why not import words from text files?

Lets say I run autoblogger and then create new rewrite rules... how do I manage that older posts on my blog change too?

For automatic updates, I just cron the three files it runs in the "run abp" step. We don't update with random RSS entries, as we support dates pulled from the feed. This updates as the feed updates, with the correct date. We haven't wanted to put in a crop tool, as we want to A) maximize compatibility (I mean, sheesh, some people are running MySQL 3 -- think they have ImageMagick or similar installed?), and B) limit the amount of changes to a feed owner's content -- after all, we're syndicating their stuff, not trying to rip them off. I am sensitive to the desire to have a blog look homogenous, but I feel this can usually be done using CSS. You can certainly add a prefix (or suffix) using the Rewrite engine, but support for Regex will be added back in with version 1.1.

Again, GFY isn't our support system of choice, and if I miss any of your questions because they were here and not in a ticket, I apologize in advance! :)

We tried to balance the functionality the masses wanted versus the functionality requests of a few. The UI was designed based on a lot of feedback from the beta. It started out in the format you described, and ended up in the format we currently have, due to the preferences of the majority of testers and early users.

Also, Autoblogger Pro currently posts *out* to blogs, and is not currently intended as a micromanagement system to change "old" posts. We are considering adding this functionality into a future version for those who like to "tinker," but be aware that going back to older posts will has slowed down posting significantly in tests. It has to conform to and perform for the masses in this case, who are launching "fire and forget" sites for the most part.

Autoblogger Pro came bundled with WordPress, and had to be installed on every blog you wanted to use it on. Additionally, it was limited to 25 domains with a network license.

The Stand Alone version "posts out" to blogs, giving you a "control panel" to manage a bunch of blogs from a single interface. It is useable on UNLIMITED domains.
