Sure. A little boobies never hurt anyone.

Okay, back to coding the REST of the pages *cracks the whip* ...

No more boobies? What gives?

UPDATE:

The interface has undergone the changes we were talking about earlier. These may or may not be the "final" version, but they are "live" on the Relink server if anyone wants to update their copy of Autoblogger Pro.

That's my preference as well, but the problem is -- so many people want to download it first, then upload it (whereas I wget), and they get scared of .tar.gz as opposed to .zip. But --- I agree.

How about both? It's a hassle to download and then ftp for each upgrade.

Nice. Too bad it's priced out of my range.

That's not a bad idea, actually.

For now, I just installed the zip package under FreeBSD. I wget the file, and unzip it on the server.

Although it's not high on the list of features that need to get implemented, if I have a spare few moments where I'm twiddling my thumbs, I can see what I can do. You've been helping in tracking down ABPSA bugs, and I appreciate it. :)

I just bought the standalone version and...

The admin interface looks very professional and clean, usability is great. You won't need longer than 10 minutes to understand everything you can do there...

It does exactly what it's supposed to do, but I missed a few options:

- Edit/Manipulate the rss feeds
- it doesn't mix the rss feed entries (randomly) before posting them out
- i'm not able to post the entries to a category i have on my blog (or did I miss something?)

I this will be added in future versions :-)

We've done some "live" demos for people. I basically set up an installation of Autoblogger Pro (or let you run through the install on my server), and let you play around with it a bit, guiding you through the process.

I can't get this last screen to come up in Opera. I'm going to try it in Firefox, and will let you know.

Odd. The browser reports "done," but nothing comes up? It's just a simple HTML page, with some CSS.

Let me know what happens, so we can hop on it. :thumbsup

Brujah 11-07-2006 11:34 AM

edgeprod.. worked just fine in Firefox. I don't mind using that instead. In Opera, the browser never reports that it's done. The site I tested that received the feeds however, DID receive them all just fine.

Users should have the choice of using any browser (within reason), so I'd like to fix the problem, of course.

Is it possible that Opera isn't capable of presenting data before the program has flushed it? (i.e., with PHP's flush() function). How long did you let it sit before closing it?

Very interesting, and strange.

Toss in a ticket about issues like these if you stumble across them and need something fixed -- I only found this thread had been updated purely by chance this morning. :winkwink:

Oops! We added this shortly after it was suggested by several users, but since this was posted to GFY and not as a ticket, you weren't updated. We don't use GFY as a support forum, so if you do have a feature request or support issue, please submit a ticket. :winkwink:

Here are some screenshots of it:

To update your software, login to the member's area, regenerate the archive and download it, then upload the files over the top of your ABPSA installation.

In fact, it posts based on the date of the RSS feed. This means that if you have a variety of RSS feeds, all with posts that have different dates, you will surely see a "mix" in there, for Wordpress sites.

We wrestled with this, going back and forth to how we wanted it to work. We currently post everything to a single category (as this is how the vast majority of users were setting up Autoblogger [the old Wordpress version]). We *can* change this to post to individual categories, but I am not sure what everyone's opinion is. If people weigh in on this, we can look at whether to change it, or to leave it posting to a single category for now.

+1 Vote for supporting categories. Or at least an ability to post to 1 additional category instead of the default category.

Okay. Another possibility might be to add a configuration option that allows you to CHOOSE the default behavior: post to a single category (which you can then define), or post to the category you plunk the feed into.

That probably makes the MOST sense -- so everyone wins.

edgeprod 11-08-2006 01:02 PM

The functionality to post to categories has been added. This new release, as well as the 1.x series, have been "silent" updates, meaning we haven't made "official" announcements about them. The next "major" release is 1.10 (Xenon), which will incorporate all of the changes to date, merge some other features into the code base, and tighten up help text in many areas.

Here's the changelog for this version and the last (1.08):

Quote:

*************MINOR RELEASE*************

Vers: 1.08 (Lithium)
Date: November 06 2006 (Silent Update)

***************************************

* Added the ability to modify posts in the database.

* Added pagination to a number of screens, including the new post database.

* Modified the installation program to report version updates, in preparation
for the 1.1 release, which should update the versions of older software upon
installation.

* Added a check for older versions to update the version number in the database.

*************MINOR RELEASE*************

Vers: 1.09 (Cobalt)
Date: November 08 2006 (Silent Update)

***************************************

* Modified the help text for adding and editing blogs to clarify the format to
be used when working with subdirectories. The blog should be defined as the
base domain being posted to. The XML URL should then contain the relative
path from that base to the xmlrpc.php file (or the name of the file being used
for that blog).

* Added the ability to post to WordPress categories. Autoblogger Pro will post
to the name of the category the feed was originally pulled using. For example,
if you have defined your feeds as "cars" and "trucks," Autoblogger will post
feeds defined under "cars" into the WordPress category "cars," and will follow
the same behavior for "trucks." If these categories do not exist on the Word-
Press site you're posting to, it is likely that posts will be displayed in the
main category defined for the blog.

We've disabled ordering of the older Autoblogger during the initial release of the Stand Alone to avoid confusion. Sorry for the inconvenience. They are completely different products, however.

Edge - these changes are awesome!

I'm taking your advice and setting up a package of useful plugins. Install wordpress, upload the plugins, turn them on, drop in the theme, add the new site to ABPSA and done!

I'm also working on a link management system for networked blogs.. sucks having to add a new partner link to 1000 blogs by hand! Not that I have that many.. yet.. With ABPSA it won't be long :)

Thanks! Glad everything is working out for you! :thumbsup

For sure, it'd suck to add that many links by hand. I'd love to take a look when you're done -- good luck with it!

how many blogs can this run? how long would an update take with 10 blogs? how about 50? 100? Kind of curious what kind of limits may exist.

There was a new feature added to ABP 2.6 ages ago called linkmapper that may help with your link management.

We don't limit how many blogs it can post to in the code of the software itself.

Speeds vary depending on where you're posting out to. When I post to sites on the same server, it's bing-bing-bing-bing-bing-bing, and on other servers it's bing-dudda-bing-dudda-bing.

That's the technical terms.

Brujah 11-09-2006 10:21 AM

It looks like it's in "plugins" on the WordPress side.

"Link Mapper 1.0 Dynamically display links relevant to a WordPress category."
