J. Falcon 10-30-2006 06:33 AM

US is not a third world country, it just likes to invade third world countries, and therefore maintain its first world status.

Aside from producing criminals, what are we the best in really?

Oh ok, we can fuck some shit up with weapons, that I will give you as well.

I judge countries by the amount of economic and political freedom they grant their citizens. I thought America is better than most other countries in that. If you can prove me wrong here, please do so. I hate to believe in wrong ideas.

I agree with you on this. America isn't perfect by any means, but compared to many other countries, we are somewhat better. Can you show us we are wrong?

I always hated this statement. I love the idea of the United States/America. It is also a vital part of it for some to take a step back and point out what is wrong or what they do not agree with.

How much political freedom do we really have? We are stuck in a rigged system with two parties forced up on us that get all of the money. Our political debates are more than limited, invite only, and with approved questions or talking points being the only thing allowed. Broken and or possibly rigged voting machines. Polling centers that are strategically placed to turn away as many of the poor as possible. We have done away with any real reliable paper trails and must just take their words for it. We have had courts make the final choice. Even then the masses do not vote on or hear issues, they vote on propaganda and hate ads.

I just find it hard to have political freedom when politics follows everyone from the streets to their bedrooms, where politics can lock you up and prevent you from ever voting again. I find it even more unpalatable when you can not be arrested and locked away for an indefinite amount of time on no real charges and not being able to face your accuser nor obtain legal counsel. Yes I am upset we have suspended habeas corpus.

Unfortunately we are apathetic and no longer care. Everything must be black and white. Find me a list of other countries that have suspended habeas corpus.
We place religion over science, we also legislate morals whenever we can, as we all know what is best for everyone else.
I feel it all starts at a very young age. We are taught to not really ask questions, we are prepped to be good little consumers at the expense of everything else. We fill our text books with myths, lies, and fairy tales. Any real education is far from important nor needed. After all we can graduate up failures and just lower what is expected of students. Then we wonder why more people believe in angels than evolution, or that Christopher Columbus made his trip to prove the world was round.

I do not expect America to be perfect. I do not feel it is an entirely terrible place yet either. Our grandparents version of America was great and better than most countries, with several major exceptions of course (race relations, and so forth). I would just desire for us as a country to change the course we are on and stop putting up with the shit they are feeding us. Enough of the illusions.

:1orglaugh Wow so clever.
Why should those that dislike what is happening and has become of this grand idea leave?
Or is it expected to go along with everything and just swallow it?

xlogger 10-30-2006 01:58 PM

I'm so sick of this shit. I hate it when people here (the town i live in) say "i want to get out of this shit hole". I want to punch those idiots in the face because the town i live in has everything! They don't know how good they have it. They move to another place and come back here 2 months later telling me how bad that place was...

What a joke...

Elli 10-30-2006 02:37 PM

Shouldn't the better response be "If you don't like it, then work to make it better"?

b/c you arent doing anything to make it better

put up or shut up

how have YOU tried to make this country better? there are a lot worse places to live and people arent dying to gain access to them like they try with america

_Richard_ 10-30-2006 03:32 PM

To be honest, this is what the rest of the world fears from the self-styled freedom of speech/thought/religon country. If one person raises a thought and idea, there is no actual discussion. Just insults and fear that whats being said may be right, and it's outrageously apparent in the defensive remarks. Now, i'm generalizing, as the same can be said of Canada, but it's so much more apparent how uneducated americans are about what america is actually doing. Yea, there's freedom of press, but chains that were broken centuries ago have only been replaced by the chains of Capitalism. Money isn't made by embarressing or shaming people in regards to their country. Many people in the country throw away lives just to make an impact and their catagorized as "crazy" to help maintain the illusion of "sane" people with $4000 in hundreds in their pockets and can continue playing blackjack guilt free from the knowledge of starving children within 20 miles of their front door.

Sweet dreams.

Democracy only works if voters know something about politics. Do they?

I agree. But that was not my point. The US is fucked up beyond repair. I'm not challenging that. My point was: Which country is better? Can you name a country that offers more freedom than the US currently. I couldn't come up with one so far (which is a sad thought, actually).

are you trying to out-stupid the americans and plant a stupid flag in this debate for canada?

some of you people should spend some time traveling instead of learning about the world from playstation 2 and war craft.
