James Blunt lol And he's great. Seen him in concert a couple of months ago....that dude gets the puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuussay! His song "Good-bye Lover" is one that makes me humble, but cry, not so much. Infact, rumour has it that song is the most popular song played at a lover's funeral....not sure if that's what he was going for, but it is a beautiful yet sad song. OH and anything on Guns N Roses Speghetti Incident lol :P

At a Pink Floyd concert on shrooms I balled to their "High Hopes" song, for some reason.

One of the saddest songs I ever heard was Eric Bogle's "Green Fields of France" inspired by the writer visiting a WW1 military cemetery. The Fureys' version is the best...

"But here in this graveyard that's still No Man's Land
The countless white crosses in mute witness stand
To man's blind indifference to his fellow man.
And a whole generation who were butchered and damned."

These are 70's songs because in the 70's they wrote story songs more often.

Mr. BoJangles. Because his dog 'up and died'. Songs about hobos are sad.

The Blind Man in the Bleachers Song- son is on football team and never gets to play but wins the LAST GAME OF THE SEASON because his blind dad died that day and it's the first time his dad got to see him play.

Run Joey Run - dad shoots at daughter's boyfriend, but hits daughter instead

Shannon by Henry Gross. Another dead dog song.

Witchita lineman- my dad used to sing that to me.

80's was the decade for child abuse songs.
Luka by Suzanne Vega
Plus that White lion song....

Songs about kids getting hit make me cry.
