Easy maintenance, good SE traffic and it's not much work to make a blog with thousands of posts every day. It may not have the quality of blogs written by hand, but it's pretty much like doorways V2.0 without any cloaking or redirects that would hurt SE rankings.

I personally love them because they provide me really easy way to update them, add link trades, customize them how I like w/o needing to edit tons of pages manually...

Its an easy way to get a good feedback from your readers audience. If they like it they can comment it and if they hate it they can comment it. Makes it more personal and easier to sell something then on a TGP or something similiar.
