Getting ready to sell my site.

Hey Everyone,

I'm getting ready to sell my resource website on eBay in the next few hours. Check out my idea for the auction HERE

Let me know what you guys think. I'm pretty good at this stuff, but I'm not quite happy with it.

I was thinking about putting a few links to articles about how big the online porn biz is.

Thanks - I really don't know what something like this is worth. I was planning on doing a good sized advertising campaign, but haven't really had the time or money to put into it, to do it right. The site is only getting like 100 uniques/day, which is not that impressive - but then again, that is only search engine and link exchange traffic. If this site were to be advertised the right way, it could really be something. I'm thinking of setting the reserve at $1500 and see what happens.

Your website looks fantastic, so I have a few questions for you.

1. Approx How many webmaster referral signups does your resource page generate each month?

2. Has any company bought advertising space on your resource site?

Website looks excellent. Good luck

Thank you!

This site is starting to show up in the search engines now and I've noticed an increase in people signing up. Overall, I'm not lighting the sky on fire with sign up's, but like I said previously, this site needs to be advertised - something I haven't done.

The site needs more traffic than it presently has, to be selling any ad space now. I have had a number of inquiries though.

I'll be honest with you.
I like the website alot but I have a current project I'm working on right now, and a second project lined up already.

If your site hasn't sold in a few months from now repost about the sale.
(I'd probably be interested)
Sorry if this isn't too helpful.

I agree it seems a bit high, you might be better off getting the site to a point where you have at least a few paying sponsors. It seems like you've spent some time putting the site together so you might as well get it to a point where you can get some $$'s from it. I've also not found ebay to always be the best spot to sell sites, unless you make sure and hit the adult boards and let them know about it Good luck.

I've got a bunch of other online projects that I'm really involved with right now. I'm starting a TGP - I'm building another sunglasses site - I'm working part time for AllOfEm - and I'm just beginning to build a design site.

So, I simply don't have the time, or even the money right now, to promote this site like I planned to when I was building it up.

Ya, it sounds high for that small amount of traffic, but it's all ready to go if some can advertise it good.

Hey, good luck man but I'm affraid that you'll probably have the auction ended by eBay staff, outside links to adult related sites are a no-no.

just my warning...

You tightasses crack me up. The design and work that went into putting together the resource listings is worth probably a thousand or fifteen hundred. No, it doesn't have much intrinsic value because the traffic is low.

However, anyone running a company that has employees knows that large or small it still takes alot of hours to put a project like that together. 20? 30? 50? I don't know how many hours because I only spent 2 minutes surfing it. But, just with simple math if you figure you have a low end employee at $20/hour and it takes him 50 hours... you're at $1000. And, if you think you can get someone for $20 an hour that doesn't need supervision and constant direction, you're wrong there too.

SO, if you ask me, it's not a terrible deal at $1500. The value is in the eye of the beholder. If you don't make any money online then you can spend 100 hours making a site and that would still sound better then spending $1500. When you're making $100k+ per year the idea of spending a week or more building something... sucks. Let's just say paying someone is more appealing then the mundane work of doing it yourself.

Let's not shoot this guy in the foot - it's obviously worth $1500 to the right person. Saying it's only worth $400 is a fucking joke. The other comment about 100 webmaster uniques per day not being worth anything - that's rediculous. The site's worth a grand without any traffic. Certainly 100 per day is a start. That's 3000 per month, almost 40,000 per year. Consider that at most there are five thousand (maybe ten thousand) productive webmasters.

Do I like the domain name? No. I hate hyphens

Cheers! Happy 4th to everyone

Brad

P.S. - Good luck man!

Who is going to buy sunglasses online?
You need to try them to see if they fit well. Often times I see a pair that look good but when I put them on they don't look right. Simply can't imagine someone ordering them online.

Have you sold many?

Trust me - People buy sunglasses online, like crazy. I can see it being a problem with buying something like clothing or something else that comes in different sizes.

When I tell people what I made last summer, selling these shades - people don't believe me - but I'm telling the truth.

The designer replica sunglasses? Ya, they go for about $10 each at your local mall. I wholesale the dozens for $30/dz.

Well, there's a little over one day left on the auction. I haven't got any bids as of yet, but I have been getting a number of serious inquiries via ICQ and through email.

I'm sure we got some hungover webmasters here today. I've got a serious hangover - I'm on a strict diet of Tylenol and Rolaids today.

I'm not in the market for this kind of thing, but I saw this post before.. You didn't mention much about the backend of the site, does it have a web-administration centre to keep it updated? That greatly adds to the value of a site like this too.

The board has a great admin section and the poll script has a setup area, but as far as the main part of the site - I just have a webpage that I view locally that has links to all the affiliate programs on the site. This page will go to the winner, along with the site.
