So it's lightly raining here in Atlanta, Napolean and I are sitting here in our office and first we heard this little crackle/pop type of sound. A few seconds later, the power went out for a second and came right back. Our cable TV and internet is down but our DSL is up.
When we booted up our PCs, started surfing and noticed that our internet history (trail) was somehow gone on both of our computers. wtf? ![]() We called Charter and they said we're the only ones reporting a problem. ![]()

Nappy said it actually happened with the first pop before the power went out. It even logged him out of cpanel and some members areas
Never had that happen before. ![]()

Happens to us all the time. We get power surges...not always strong emough to turn everything off but often strong enough to reset any computers that are on. Whenever we reboot, history is ALWAYS gone.
I wouldn't worry, particularly if you have your machine pulgged into a surge protector. |

ppfft surge protector , the domestic versions aren't worth shit , they have a slow ass reaction time , so they are just a con job that the electrical stores talk you into buying to scam more money out of you , an UPS would be a better soultion
but anyway as said above pcs need a constant supply of juice any drops outs and the pc reboots while tv's and radios may still run |

Buy a UPS. Most consumer models won't have enough juice to run for more than 5-10 mins if the power goes out completely, however they're more useful to bypass momentary line drops and other power issues that can cause your PC to become unstable.
These days I don't worry when the lights flicker... |

Not sure what that was but if it makes you feel better I have been without power, phones, and cable since Thursday and it doesn't look like we are going to be up until Sunday. I am typing this message from a laptop charged by a generator connected through a Sprint wireless broadband card.
fun

We're gonna have to get some UPS's like suggested above. I've had power go out so many times but never noticed the history thing. Craziness ![]()
