What about Asia? I know that's a lot cheaper than Brazil, countries like Thailand etc

It's cheaper in asia than in brazil, plus you have all the production in asia which means that things like electronics are cheap. I'm not sure if asia would be a good place to live for the sole purpose of saving money, it's more of a lifestyle and being able to work from your house on the beach...

My husband and I still work on our sites, but we consider ourselves semi-retired just because of the relaxing lifestyle we live, thanks to internet porn. We don't plan to ever fully retire though.

Your retirement money should not be in risky investments ....

Yea it's heartbreaking but lower the rate of return and see the difference in living standards.

Probably true for many people - but for many others, not necessarily.
As a one-man band (currently) who has spent most of his life (in other industries, not just this one) as a workaholic doing anywhere from 10-16 hours a day - the ideas of not having to get up in the morning to immediately deal with "customer service" (that is, dealing with morons and functional illiterates), updates and so on - being able to take a 3 week vacation without having to take a laptop to be able to work on the road - and not having to worry about the world of 2257 is a *very* appealing concept

Being able to retire comfortably and spend time with family, travelling, reading, and doing volunteer work seems like a very nice goal - at least to me :-)
