Just got an awesome email from COX ******

Quote:
Dear Cox High Speed Internet Customer,
Your Internet Service just got Crazy Fast!
Notice that sites are popping up faster and email is downloading quicker? That's because they are! Cox is pleased to announce that we gave you more of what you enjoy most about high-speed Internet service -- SPEED!

This week we made your Cox High Speed Internet Preferred service up to 17% faster! You continue to have one of the best values in high speed, but now you download at up to 7 Mbps! This makes surfing the Web or downloading large files 1 Mbps faster than last week, and more than 240 times faster than 28.8k dial-up! That's fast enough to download an entire CD's worth of data in less than 12 minutes! This is no preview; this permanent speed increase automatically took place on October 4. There is no action required on your part to receive this upgrade.

I got the same email.

I also got a nice letter from them a few days ago.

It said since they are so great and they are giving me a whole super duper 1 mbps increase in downloading speed they are going to raise my bill by $5. Then they reminded me that they haven't raised their prices since the stone ages and now I can download stuff "super crazy fast" which I think is equivalent to 1 billion times faster than carrier pigeons).
Unfortunately there was no mention of an increase of upload speed.

I fucking hate Cox with a passion, but my only other choice is DSL and that isn't going to happen.
They need to hurry up with the fiber in AZ.
