I have a bunch of domains that are parked probably like you. However, instead of just letting them collect electron dust, I wanted to forward them to my affiliates using my linking url codes.

Have any of you tried this and does it work?

What are the implications? (i.e. will the url of were you send the traffic be associated in search engines with the parked domain name? etc..

What do you think?

It works great.

I used to just redirect all the traffic before. But it didn't bring in that much traffic/$$.

I read an article half a year ago about "mod_flowmo" for Apache (A traffic flow module for Apache). Great article. After I installed it.... DAMN, talk about difference.

I got much more SE traffic, the over all traffic increased, the traffic flow on the domains increased = traffic to my sponsor increased (and of course more $$ ).

How do you have it setup exactly?

I was going to the have my domain registrar point my domain to my sponsors.

Are you running your own nameservers?

It's just to ask your hosting company to set up mod_flowmo for you, piece a cake for them.

I have it set up like this:

Domain pointed to my nameservers.

Domain added to the mod_flowmo enabled Apache.

In httpd.conf I have set up how much traffic that should come in to each of the mod_flowmo enabled domains. If you set the limits too high on the domains the SE's might sink your server when they are crawling. If it's too low.... not as much traffic as if the limits were set higher. You have to find the perfect balance for You.

When everything is set up, you turn it on in your .htaccess "FlowMo on".

Then it's just to tweak the traffic levels to find what works best for you.

Click on "nameservers"

Select "Use OUR nameservers" and click the "modify" button. Wait about 30 seconds while the system processes your request.

You will then see a screen with a series of empty columns. If you do not see this screen, log out and then log back in to your domain manager.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Forwarding features will not function until 24 - 48 hours after you submit the changes.

When forwarding a domain:

First Row: Under the "host" column, put the "@" symbol. Under the address column, enter the full URL of the web site to which you are redirecting your domain. (A URL is a web address which includes "http://" ) For example, you could forward your domain to http://www.powerpipe.com/hosting.asp Note that "http://" is included in the destination URL. This is very important.

Select URL forwarding or URL Frame instead of "A- Record" in the scroll-down menu. URL Frame will forward the domain but will replace the destination URL in the browser address bar with your domain. URL forwarding will simply redirect visitors to the destination URL you specify.

Second Row: Under the "host" column, put www . Under the address column, enter the full URL of your destination address, and be sure to include "http://" in the address. In other words, you could forward to http://www.powerpipe.com/hosting.asp .

Select URL forwarding or URL Frame instead of "A- Record" .

Click "modify" and wait 30 seconds before exiting the system.

(PS: You do not need to be concerned about setting the MX record info. The system will set the correct info by default when you click "modify")

NOTE: ALLOW 24 - 48 HOURS FOR THESE MODIFICATIONS TO BEGIN WORKING!

I've been doing that for a while now and the results are pretty damn good considering it's blind traffic. I should've been doing it all along...
