Anyone live in Ireland, the UK, or Amsterdam? Travel question

I'm planning a trip to Ireland with my business partner in March and am looking for transportation from there to Amsterdam via the UK.. is flying the only way? If driving / busing / boating is possible what sort of trip length are we talking.. hours? days? Looking at maps the entire countries don't look much larger than 1-2 US States, but seeing as how I've never been to Europe I thought I'd ask people who have Any insight is greatly appreciated.

You're best off flying. Travelling time is dead time

If you can book the flights well in advance you can get some really cheap deals. I mean, like £20 UK to Amswerdam or Ireland.

I'm flying to Tallinn in Estonia soon for £15

Just type 'cheap flights' into google and you'll get the idea.

I would say flying is best - but if you really want to go overland you can.

You can get a ferry from Ireland to England on a few routes and then either a ferry or tunnel to the Continent.

A good route is Harwich to Hoek Van Holland and then its about 45mins into Amsterdam.

It could all be done by train.

Im not sure what the best Eire - England ferry routes are.

Its a 2-3 day trip, but a lot of that would be on the water and messing around.

Dublin to Hollyhead by ferry = $30 (45 minutes)

Hollyhead to Gatwick by train = $100 (3 hours)

Gatwick to Amsterdam by plane = $30 (3 hours)

You might even be able to get that cheaper if (as already mentioned) you book in advance, you could probably even get a flight direct from Dublin > Amsterdam (or at least go through one flight change in Birmingham).

Regards,

Lee

How old are you? Depending on that answer and the experience you are looking for my answer would vary.

Last time I traversed the Irish Sea by ferry it took over 4 hours. Have they implemented one of those SuperFast Bullet boats?

Also the fees were more like 45 quid which in today's terms is a lot more than $30.
