You might even be able to get that cheaper if (as already mentioned) you book in advance, you could probably even get a flight direct from Dublin > Amsterdam (or at least go through one flight change in Birmingham).

Last time I traversed the Irish Sea by ferry it took over 4 hours. Have they implemented one of those SuperFast Bullet boats?

Also the fees were more like 45 quid which in today's terms is a lot more than $30.
