just for the record.. not all canadians get milk in a big.. ( it must have something to do with how cold it gets.)

Im on the west coast and we dont have any milk in bags, but in the plains they have it...

p.s.s. milk in bags rocks , because you can use it as a cool pillow

The exp date is on the 'milk tag' that the 3bags are wrapped in. The milk tag is like the bread tag.. the thing girls scouts & cub scouts used to go around collecting & stuff.. at least they did where I was growing up.

The British do that too. I have lived here 10 years and I still am not used to seeing it.

bag milk to me is like an old classic thing... My grandparents did it when I lived with them when I was 6-7 years old. I haven't really seen bagged milk in the grocery stores (in Vancouver anyway) for almost 15 years anyway.

It's easier to get in the container
It's less expensive
It's better for the environment
It's easier to carry

All things Canadian are better. Just accept it

It's cheaper to buy it in bags because you're only charged by litres instead of by the gallon

Regarding west coast vs east coast, from Wikipedia:

"Plastic bags (sold as 4 litres in 3 bags) are widely available in some areas (especially Ontario and Québec), although the 4 litre plastic jug has supplanted them in western Canada."

We have the other option. We can buy pints, quarts, half gallon, gallon, etc.

Though in CA milk is a strictly controlled commodity. Price breaks are super rare unless you buy 2 gallons at once.

I've always found milk bags to be better in pairs.

Until very recently, we didn't have milk in a plastik bottle, only plastik bag and carton was available in our store.
