this country was definately a nicer place when kids knew they could get their asses kicked by their parents for getting out of line.

i was playing racquetball at the gym and some 12-13 year old kid from a group of kids that comes there from a neighboring school for P.E. wanted to play with his friends. I let him use one of my 250.00 racquets. I was playing with my friends in another court and he was just sitting there. all his friends left and he kept sitting there. finally we finished and walked out of the court and he came up to me, shook my hand and thanked me. he was just waiting there, missed his friends who all left just to say thank you in a personal way. i was so completely stunned at how polite he was, that i was at a total loss for words.

a woman was standing there looking at me and she kinda laughed and remarked at how it also caught her off guard. then it really hit home... i was thinking "wow... i am shocked and surprised when a kid is polite... things have definately changed since i was 13"

when i was that age, there was a strong chance that he would have beat my ass... then sent me home... then called my dad and told him i was coming... then my dad would have beat my ass again... then my dad would have made me call and apologize and then i would have to mow his lawn for a month.
