Anyone Else Here Do Work With MoveOn.org? - GoFuckYourself.com

They just talked to me last night, and FINALLY got me going this year. I've worked with them many times in the past, doing everything from fundraising to door-to-door canvassing.

This year they have me doing phone bank work for the midterms. They've got a VERY VERY cool system setup to do it!

You log into your account, are giving a name and number, you call, click buttons to reflect the answers they give to questions (or if they hangup or whatever), then it's on to the next.

The goal is to hit every potential progressive voter in the 30 districts most up for grabs. Then we'll call all the most progressives back the days leading up to the election to make sure they go out to vote, ask them if they need transportation, etc.

VERY cool!

They're way more organized than they were in the last Presidential race, and I hope it really makes a difference this year.

Any other MoveOn.org'ers on the board?

yup, my wife and I also work with them on various things....we stay pretty involved with them on a consistant basis

Very cool! With the exception of canvassing, I've mostly done fundraising work for them, so it's cool to be more in touch with the voting public this time.

Unfortunately, the 'progressives' are anything but. Unless progressive means being nuttier than Chinese chicken salad.

It's all a bit of an oxymoron really, like those people who call themselves the 'truth-based movement' (who are also progressives btw), who actually believe that the twin towers were brought down by dynamite, that everything is an government inside job and that our enemies are actually our friends.

Any organisation which backs that unintentional comedienne Cindy Sheehan should be given a wide berth, but obviously only by people who do not wish to waste their own, and others', time.

Don't be so quick to answer your own question. Perhaps you should do a bit of research about this organisation you support. One of the purposes of this movement is to move the Democratic Party to the left. We know where that leads.

Hrm. Now they just need to integrate auto-dialing VOIP so that when you log in... you just start the task. no having to dial yourself or from your personal line. This shouldn't be too hard to pull off with flash... maybe next time.
