Too many connections - Nats or Sponsor problem?

Is the following a problem with Nats or the the resources the Sponsor has allocated through Nats?

NATS has found a problem

Too many connections

Who is breaking down in this case?

Anyone else seeing a lot of these over past day or so?

My quick guess is its a server problem, possibly needs more RAM. But I'm no tech, I just pretend to know what I'm talking about. :-)

Generally it's because the mysql max_connections variable is too low (usually it's at the default which is 100)... Most new NATS programs discover this within a couple weeks of opening their program and fix it.

So is it the Sponsor who does not have sufficient resources on their machines, or are the databases hosted on Nats infrastructure?

Better yet, who has to fix the problem?

As a few people said its a problem of the software needing more connections than their mysql install will allow. As programs grow they will need more and more. This is a problem fixed by most programs themselves, however, if they need our assistance we help them fix it.

edit: To answer your other question, the sql server is hosted by the client. We do not host anything for our clients and all NATS installs run independant of each other. This is why when there are a few that have mysql problems within a short period of time it is a coincidence not a "NATS problem" as sometimes people like to argue. NATS installs are not dependant upon our servers and they don't know what other NATS installs are doing so the problems are unrelated and client specific. Just enough installs out there that from time to time there will be problems on more than one

That answers my questions exactly.

As an affiliate seeing the error, it's not obvious who is exceeding their limits as not all of us know how a Nats solution is installed.

So this is something we should raise with our sponsors (if they don't already know).

Thank-you.
