VA2K's ICQ Compromised?

Someone using his ICQ # sent me a rapidshare .exe file to download, and logged off. Just a heads up.

Weird, Tom's on my ICQ and I didn't get it. Seems like I would have if everyone on his ICQ is getting them though.

just got off the phone with Tom (Va2K).

He said he got a link this morning from Corvette, naturally he clicked without thinking. He then saw some shit he could not understand, had the chance to send a wtf message to Corvette, before icq logged off. He can not get back into his icq. Tried for a chunk of the morning until he was late for a shoot. He is still shooting, i.e. why I am responding.

Seems like he lost his icq, which is also costing him money, since he had some jobs due and pending from icq users. So if you had recently hired him or used him in the past, he is not flaking on you. He can not find your info.
Please do email him at sales @ knockboots.com with your info.

One again he apologizes.

I don't use the actual ICQ client but he should be able to get into his logs. It's a pain in the ass but he can probably re-add everyone to a new number and transfer the log files to that folder so he knows what is going on.

Yeah I told him that. He will start in on it when he is done with the shoot.
Still he would need a new number which is a pain in the ass biz wise. Not to mention he has a few pending orders that are near due. He does not want to sort of vanish on them people while he tries to restore what he can.

Yeah it's shitty. Might check ebay for the number in a week though.

Problem is he is fairly certain he got it from Corvette from ccbill, and lee claims Aly sent him one. Seems this attack is spreading though the adult sector. So be very mindful of any messages, no matter whom sent them.

I think whats happening is that whoever clicks the link, sends it on to a person on their current ICQ list then they lose control of their ICQ as i havent seen Mark on ICQ all day which is strange.

Regards,

Lee

My ICQ got compromised today too!!

It was saying that someone is using my ICQ number on another computer. I re-logged back in to log off the other fucker and they re-logged back in. I re-logged again and changed the password. It was ok since. So I wonder which poor bastard got any files from me now.

Apparently my ICQ sent out a bunch of those links and then just shut off. I use Trillian and never clicked on anyone's link. Yahoo has those too and I learned a long time ago to never click a link through a chat program unless you know the person who sent it to you actually sent it.

So don't blame the person who sent it to you, they may have had absolutely nothing to do with it, not even carelessness. It's a problem with ICQ.
