I will try and remember.

Used them...and really liked them. Really fast servers, and I was running several add-on domains at the time. I'm still an affiliate of theirs, so if you do decide to go with them, would you mind using my link? lol. Please and thank you! http://secure.hostgator.com/cgi-bin/...?id=Mastermind

I had a reseller account with them a year or so ago. They were fine until the server crashed and was down for a couple of days, I could never get a straight status report from support, so I moved.

Their support staff are pretty cool and know what they're doing.

Problem with hostgator is that they outsource support.

Another cheap thread jack/drive by spam. Webair uses cheap peering BW they used to have good level3 but lost that a few months ago. This thread was not asking for any idiots to spam another host, it was specifically asking for comments on one specific host !!

I agree this is not the thread to go on about this as the person who started it is looking for advice on a particular company. But just to reply to your statement about us:

We dropped Level3 and obtained much more capacity with Global Crossings who were much more flexable and able to provide circuits in more buildings than Level3 could. In addition to Global Crossings we use Teleglobe (tier 1) who also provides us with redundant circuits. We use Telia (tier 1) for most of our Euro routes, and of course peering which is the best possible scenario for routing packets.

What do you think is cheap about peering? Please explain that.

Ok, I am on with Hostgator and have run in to a huge problem.

Their cpanel will not let you add domains until it is hosted with them.

This means you have to loose some email as you can not add any forwarding until the dns change is complete and the domain points to them.

I have been on to tech support and they advise and I quote here 'There is no way to avoid downtime for an addon domain.' So they are aware of the problem and expect the customers to live with it.

I have emailed the owner, see if he has any thoughts. If not this will be a deal breaker and we will be cancelling.

The downtime for me was about 30 minutes. I moved 16 domains to them, set them up, and the DNS propogated really quickly. Not saying that's always the case, but I had no problems.

And now more than 8 hours after I have signed up, they have closed the account, deleted all my content and databases and asked me to call to verify my account.

Unbelieveable.
