To Smack or Not to Smack

At the moment in Australia they are trying to pass a law that stops parents from smacking their kids.

I dont have any kids, but do you think parents have the right to smack thier kids if they have been miss behaving.

I do know that children in this day and age are out of control and are getting worse and most of them have no respect for anyone or anything.

a smack on the face is a litte harsh, but parents must be able to control their kids

slap on the hand or something is alright in my eyes.

you just have to know when your going too far...

I don't believe smacking a child is gonna teach them anything valuable, other than to grow up and smack everyone the fuck around that they please, end up in jail, start smoking smack, smack a police officer, get smacked back and more time in jail etc.... DON'T SMACK YOUR KIDS!!!

Imo there is nothing wrong with a parent giving their child a smack on the bottom. I'm talking about a simple loving smack, not beating the fucking snot out of them.

My entire generation including myself were smacked by our parents hands, heel of shoe, leather belt and we turned out allright.

These new age hippy wankers in their pox ass minority groups trying to tell the rest of the country how "we" should raise our kids. It's pretty fcuked up when you think about it.

Kids are out of control. You have 13yo girls who are trying to look like 18 and you have 13yo boys that have no respect for anything or anyone, and they are getting worse, they expect the whole world to be given to them on a platter.

Bah! Disciplining children with physical or mental methods is completely outdated! Instead buy the Time Out Stool with the convenient built-in timer so the child can learn to discipline itself!

?Tired of being a parent but still hoping that billy or little sallie will turn out half decent, not getting anyone pregnant or getting pregnant themselves while still in junior high? Then this product is for you! Just set the timer, tell them to get their asses on the stool then when the time is up BZZZZZT, they know to get off the damn thing and can go off being total assholes again. Eventually they'll learn to set the timer themselves and be completely self-disciplined, taking you out of the picture all together!?

This is the BEST product of the 21st century and if you haven?t bought one yet for your child you are simply a communist.

You should never smack a child in the face, but as far as spanking goes... different story.. but that's not to say to beat a child..

I had a belt and a peach tree limb taken to my bare legs a number of times and I survived. I think when the gov't took control of the child away from the parents, they forgot to draw a line between spanking and beating..

There was a case a couple years ago where a kid had done something that landed him in court. The judge asked his grandmother (guardian) what she felt would be proper punishment. She said she thought the boy just needed a good whoopin', so the judge stood up, took off his belt, and reached it out to her..

The kids today are much different due to the current climate, which makes it hard all around..

Tell me about it. I walk my kids to school everyday and walk along side these girls between the ages of 9-16, and they look like grown ups.
Very young girls in grade school wearing those mini skirts, the ones with no shorts underneath just sitting on the grass. Like, what are they asking for trouble?!
If you've ever been to Canada you know how cold our winters can be. Girls nowadays go out dressed like its summer time. I asked one young girl, maybe about 14 or 15 who was wearing a short skirt, no jacket or sweater in the middle of winter if she was cold. She said yeah. Then I asked her why she decided to dress the way she did when she knew it was winter outside, and she just stared at me like a deer caught in headlights lol

The boys of today have no respect for anything or anyone just like you said. We have a family living next to us with three kids ages 15, 13 and 8. My kids play with their 8 year old son, and he's a little trouble maker! lol
He thinks we're not kool cause we don't buy our kids i-pods..? He's 8 years old!
The closest thing my kids have to that is a gameboy lol. Their 15 yr. old son is a bugger He's loud and he doesn't give a crap about anything. You should hear the way he speaks to his mother..

We live in a pretty nice neighbourhood and on a beautiful street, and right down the road is a high school. And just down a bit further there is a 7-11..
So, all the kids from that school go there for lunch and eat on the way back. Along the way their all dropping their garbage on people lawns. This really gets me actually, cause I see all the people working hard on keeping up their property to make it look nice. Then you have a bunch of kids every single day throwing their trash all over. AND there is a garbage just a few hundred feet from the store they can use.

Sometimes I say something , other times I don't cause there is no point. It goes in one ear and out the next.

I totally agree with you, kids of today are out of control. It's not like back in the day when we'd get a good whoopin' with a belt on our backside.
Today the law is there to protect the child. However, if your child ever tells you their going to call C.A.S on you for whatever reason, hand them the phone and tell them that they will take THEM away. Not you.

I remember being a little brat and threatening my parents with that, and thats what my dad told me. They take the child from his/her home and place them in a more "suitable" home. I had it very good as a kid but I wanted attention and I tried to get it the wrong way. Just like the kids of today.

But I got a good smack on the ass. Parents today are too scared to punish their kids probably because they never have. When a child grows up on discipline, they learn it. But alot of parents today work to much..but they have to to pay the bills. And usually both parents work outside the home, so the kids are left alone pretty much to raise themselves. So what do they learn?
Everything you don't want them to.

I got my ass beat almost daily by my father.Looking back I deserved it most of the time.Kids today need a good spanking for some of the things they do.For everyone who says "what does it teach them except to grow up to hate" give me a break. Why would they stop if all their getting is a good talking to.In my opinion thats why half the kids nowadays grow up to be criminals because nobody every taught them that there is a consequence for breaking the rules.Whether your parents rules or societies rules.Hell what would stop a bank robber or rapist or murderer if all they are going to get yelled at

Moron.

You know... I grew up getting smacked for doing bad things ... in fact, a few times, I got a fucking good hiding from my Dad. And I grew up knowing right from wrong. I live with my Girlfriend and her Sister, and her sister is 13. She's never been disciplined, and she's a fucking little bitch. She treats her mother like shit, and when she does something wrong, she expects to get away with it. And does. And I am sorry, but she needs a good fucking kicking.

I loved my Dad (he died 18 months ago), and respected him. He brought me up in a caring environment, but I knew the boundaries of what a child should be doing. Most kids today are little fucking assholes because they aren't given a good smack when they do something wrong as a child. I don't mean for everything... I just mean for things they REALLY deserve it for.

Look in nature... look at animals. Lion cubs for instance. If a lion cub is annoying the mother, she will give the cub a smack. It happens. It's not abuse. It's a way of telling that kid to fucking stop being a moron.

So there.

As Bill Cosby said, "Let the beatings..... begin"

In all seriousness, I think smacking kids in the face is over the line. However I think anything below the neck's ok if deserving. I also grew up in a house of the broomstick, shoes, phone receiver, etc. I agree all of THOSE are insane to use. But a spanking, or slapping their wrist when a child's misbehaving should be allowed.

I agree with some of the others who referred to the condition of today's youth. A generation or so of the panzee punk ass parents, and you can see that most teens of today have lost their damn fool minds.

The problem is that the activists for this no slappy shit are always boo-fucking-hooing to get the government in our houses. It's always a blame game to some. Or trying to meddle in everyone's family.

The bigger problem is that you apparently can't leave it to people's judgement when is, and is not good to slappy. How many swats, and so forth. For some reason people want the government telling them how to raise their kids.

For me personally, in Michigan, if your kids throw wild parties, or do a number of different things. Not only do they get in trouble, but the PARENTS do as well!

Sorry folks. I am not going to pay massive fines, or go to jail, because Johnny wanted to be breaking the law, throw a party, etc. I am not these children's FRIEND. I would be their PARENT. It's my job to disapline them. A lot of parents I have come across treat these children like little grown ups who they want to be FRIENDS with. Or they are trying to be the "cool" mom.

Give me fucking break.

I remember as a kid mom trying to hit me with the wooden spoon she was cooking with at the time ... and dam thing broke over my ass trying to smack me one.... I think I dam near died laughing when it happened and about 5 minutes later she was as well.
