I'm lactose intolerant so for me it means I don't get sick. I was nursed on soya milk because of that. Most of it doesn't taste great but there are a couple brands these days that are decent.

for young people (30 and under) real milk is probably better nutrition wise (i would go with 1 or 2%)

the major advantage of soy milk is for older people (30+) who should be on low cholesterol diets to prevent heart disease.

I drink rice milk as an alternative to milk sometimes. I believe the somethindreams company that makes the soymilk also makes the rice milk. If you get teh vanilla flavored rice milk it's pretty damn good. Try it out.

i have had the vanilla and chocolate ones as well, they were GOOD...but being a 28 year old male, i stay away from soy products cause of its effects on the male body....IN LARGE AMOUNTS however

LOL ok. All I can add is that I wouldn't drink the milk in the US because of the bovine groth hormone that's used. BVH is banned here and in Europe I believe because it's carcinogenic. Plus if you drink too much you'll get zits because of all the natural hormones that are in it but that's only if you drink a shit load.

Yeah, that's the brand I used to drink, vanilla flavor -- it's AWESOME. Soydream, or something, I think.

I switched to Nature's Promise recently, because it's what Peapod (grocery delivery) had at the time, and I got used to it.

Yeah, So Good is the range that isn't so bad. Their chocolate is acutally pretty tasty and I don't feel like dying afterwards, which is always a bonus.

Soy milk is not so good for people who suffer from gout (that includes me), because of the rich sodium. But it's a great substitute. I occasionally sip that Silk Soya brand with some rice milk and vanilla. Yummy drink to be partnered for coffee during breakfast.

I like the very vanilla silk on cereal and in my coffee
I prefer to drink 1% milk. We usually have both in the fridge. I don't buy the chocolate silk though because it is too good and I'd drink too much of it lol

I use vanilla soy milk on cereal and have soy ice "cream" from Soy Dream. If you don't expect soy milk to taste like cow's milk it's ok. The soy ice cream is really good though, especially the mint chocolate chip.

For women soy is a wonderful thing. Especially in cancer prevention and hormonal issues.

Lactose free milk has only just started to show up in the UK. It is still very expensive compared to normal or soy milk. I used to drink it back in the States but it has to come down a bit before I make it a regular purchase.
