Doing a clean 1 pixel border in Photochop -- HELp

I feel like a dumbass but I am trying to put a 1-2 pixel black border around a 480x77 rectangle.... I can do it but the method I'm using takes too long and doesn't appear 'perfect'..

whats the ez way to do this in photoshop?

I'm using 7.0 btw

I'm no expert in photoshop for sure, but you can select all, then grow selection by 1 or 2 pix, then I think you do something with invert selection - all this if I remember correctly ;)

add a new layer and resize it by x pix, color it black... ok. That sounds like what I was looking for thanks.

Right-click layer > Blending Options > Stroke
- size: 1px
- position: inside

Select the rectangle layer, then go to layer styles - stroke - choose color and amount of pixels you want it to be.
